Add private bookkeeping ledger and migrate the historical workbook into AWS sandbox

Scope

Replace the current Google Sheets bookkeeping workflow with an authenticated Bookkeeping area in the existing DataOps portal. Bookkeeping records are private runtime data stored in a dedicated DynamoDB table; the public repository contains only code, schemas, migration logic, and synthetic fixtures.

The initial operator workflow must support:

  • viewing ledger entries by year, newest first;
  • filtering by entry type, category, provider/payee, currency, and free-text search;
  • seeing year/filter totals by currency without silently converting currencies;
  • creating, editing, and deleting an entry with an explicit confirmation before deletion;
  • preserving both transaction/sent date and paid date;
  • retaining source detail needed by the existing workflow: provider/payee, description, original amount and currency, optional EUR amount, statement/reference text, quantity/count, comment, entry type, subtype, period, category, and source provenance;
  • useful loading, empty, validation, import-warning, and error states on desktop and mobile.

Add authenticated API routes for list/get/create/update/delete operations. Validate dates, currency codes, finite non-negative amounts, and bounded strings server-side. Return private data only through the portal's existing authenticated API boundary; bookkeeping endpoints must not be added to the general auth-exempt route list. In addition to browser-session auth, provide a narrowly scoped machine-ingestion credential for a controlled CLI or future webhook to create entries. Store that credential in AWS Secrets Manager, accept it only on the create/ingest route, compare it safely, rate-limit/bound requests, audit its credential ID (never the secret), and do not grant it read, update, delete, document-download, report, or admin access.

Add a dedicated on-demand DynamoDB table and wire its name into Lambda configuration and least-privilege IAM. Use stable BOOKKEEPING#<id> keys. Each record must include id, transactionDate, optional paidDate, counterparty, description, amount, currency, optional amountEur, optional statementRef, optional quantity, optional comment, optional entryType, subtype, period, category, sourceType, optional sourceKey, and createdAt/updatedAt. Store money as validated decimal values with currency, never as binary floating-point calculations. Do not store the workbook, comments, attachments, credentials, bank documents, or raw import payloads in GitHub, Lambda deployment artifacts, CloudWatch logs, or S3.

Create a local CLI importer for .xlsx that defaults to dry-run. It must understand the observed workbook shape: year sheets for 2021–2026 with older seven-column and newer thirteen-column layouts, the small legacy Sheet2, and the separate taxes sheet. It must skip blank/formatted-only rows, map Excel dates and formula results safely, report unmapped or invalid rows without printing sensitive cell contents, and create deterministic sourceKey values so reruns do not duplicate entries. Import writes must go through the authenticated bookkeeping ingestion API—never directly to DynamoDB—and use both a required Idempotency-Key request header and the record sourceKey. The server must make duplicate retries safe with a conditional uniqueness guarantee and return the existing result or a non-destructive duplicate response. A write requires an explicit flag plus typed target API/environment confirmation; local dry-run performs no network call. The client must use bounded concurrency, retry only transient/throttling failures with backoff, stop/report permanent validation/auth failures without values, and verify imported counts through authenticated API responses. The raw source remains .tmp/bookkeeping.xlsx (Git-ignored) and is never copied into a tracked path or uploaded wholesale.

Private financial documents and accounts

Support private PDF evidence stored in a dedicated private S3 bucket, with only metadata and relationships in DynamoDB. The bucket must block all public access, disable ACL-based access, enforce TLS, use server-side encryption with a customer-managed KMS key, and have versioning plus a documented noncurrent/incomplete-upload lifecycle policy that does not silently expire active financial evidence. Bucket, KMS, and Lambda policies must be least privilege; object keys must be opaque IDs rather than names, counterparties, account numbers, or dates.

Model these records separately:

  • BookkeepingAccount: id, operator-safe displayName, kind (business or private), active, and audit timestamps. Seed/configure the two business accounts and allow occasional private-account statements without storing account numbers or credentials.
  • BookkeepingDocument: id, documentType (invoice, receipt, bank-statement, private-account-statement, monthly-report, or other-evidence), originalFilename, contentType, byteSize, sha256, s3Key, optional accountId, optional statementMonth, status, uploader/audit fields, and timestamps. Never return s3Key to the browser.
  • BookkeepingDocumentLink: a many-to-many join with documentId, transactionId, coverageType (evidence, statement-coverage, or report-source), actor, and timestamps. One monthly statement can cover many transactions, and one transaction can have multiple evidence documents.
  • BookkeepingMonthlyReport: id, month (YYYY-MM), status (draft, ready, or generated), included transaction/document IDs or a versioned snapshot manifest, reconciliation counts by account/document type, generated report document ID, archive document ID, generator/audit fields, and timestamps.

Provide authenticated APIs/UI to upload a PDF, list/view/download document metadata, link/unlink documents and transactions, assign statements to an account/month, and see missing evidence/statement coverage for a selected month. Upload must reject non-PDF content using filename, declared MIME type, PDF magic bytes, and maximum-size validation (default 20 MiB per PDF, configurable downward); sanitize display filenames; calculate and persist SHA-256; detect duplicate uploads; and never log content, signed URLs, account details, document names, or ledger values. Prefer short-lived single-object presigned PUT/GET URLs (five minutes or less), with server-side completion verification of object size/type/hash before metadata becomes active. Downloads must require a fresh authenticated authorization decision and use a short-lived presigned GET or a safely streamed response; never expose a permanent/public URL.

Monthly report and one-click archive

Add a month workflow that selects that month's ledger records, requires statements for both configured business accounts, optionally includes explicitly selected private-account statements, shows missing evidence/reconciliation warnings, and creates a versioned monthly report (CSV is sufficient for V1, with stable columns and UTF-8 encoding). The operator can then click once to download datatalksclub-YYYY-MM.zip, containing the generated report plus all linked invoices, receipts, business statements, and explicitly selected private-account statements for the immutable report snapshot.

Archive generation must be authorized and bounded: validate month and membership server-side, use safe generated entry names, reject path traversal/duplicate ZIP names, cap file count (default 500), total uncompressed bytes (default 500 MiB), per-file size, and Lambda execution/memory budget. Stream the archive when safely within limits or build it in S3 with a short expiration and return a short-lived signed download; do not buffer an unbounded archive in memory. Prevent concurrent duplicate generation for the same report snapshot, clean up failed/temporary multipart objects, record generation status/errors without private values, and ensure regenerated archives do not silently change the underlying snapshot.

The document metadata and normalized transaction fields intentionally preserve extension points for future PDF extraction and matching: document processing status, extractor version, candidate match IDs/scores, and confirmed link provenance may be added without changing the core join. Automated PDF text extraction, OCR, account parsing, and transaction matching are explicitly not implemented in this issue; all V1 linking is operator-confirmed or supplied explicitly by the authenticated ingestion caller.

Run the importer against the authorized AWS sandbox only after the deployed table/API exists. Before writing, capture a private pre-import backup/export where applicable. Reconcile dry-run counts against source rows by sheet, import valid records, retain a private rejected-row report in .tmp/, and verify persisted counts and aggregate totals by year/currency without exposing amounts or counterparties in GitHub or CI logs. Keep the spreadsheet available as rollback evidence until acceptance; do not disable or delete the Google Sheet as part of this issue.

Implementation must preserve the unrelated in-progress home-dashboard changes currently present in backend/src/pages/index.html, backend/src/public/app.js, backend/tests/home-dashboard.test.ts, and backend/e2e/home-dashboard.spec.js; coordinate edits rather than replacing those files wholesale.

Acceptance Criteria

  • An authenticated operator can open Bookkeeping from portal navigation and list, filter, search, create, edit, and delete ledger entries with clear validation and delete confirmation.
  • The list shows transaction date, paid state/date, counterparty, description, amount with currency, category/type, and statement/reference status; year/filter totals remain separated by currency.
  • Bookkeeping API routes require the existing authenticated portal session and enforce server-side field validation; unauthorized requests are rejected without returning record data.
  • A create-only CLI/webhook ingestion auth path uses a rotated Secrets Manager credential, mandatory idempotency keys, request bounds, safe auditing, and no read/update/delete/file/report permissions; browser-session behavior remains unchanged.
  • Bookkeeping data is stored in a dedicated on-demand DynamoDB table configured in local setup, SAM/CloudFormation, Lambda environment, outputs, and least-privilege Lambda/GitHub Actions deployment permissions as applicable.
  • Money and dates round-trip without precision or timezone drift; audit timestamps and stable IDs are present on every record.
  • The .xlsx importer is dry-run by default, requires explicit confirmation for writes, handles all eight observed sheets and both ledger layouts, skips empty/formatted rows, and emits only counts/row identifiers and reason codes—not raw values—to console/reports.
  • Import reruns are idempotent through deterministic source provenance, and tests prove duplicate prevention, formula/date handling, legacy/new layout mapping, tax-sheet mapping, and rejected-row behavior using synthetic fixtures only.
  • The XLSX importer performs local dry-run without network access, requires explicit API target/environment confirmation for writes, writes only through the ingestion API, handles throttling/transient errors safely, and verifies results through the API; it has no DynamoDB write path or table credential requirement.
  • An authenticated operator can upload validated PDFs up to the configured limit, safely download them, link/unlink multiple documents to multiple transactions, associate statements with either business account or an occasional private account, and identify missing monthly coverage.
  • Private documents use a public-access-blocked, TLS-only, versioned S3 bucket with customer-managed KMS encryption, opaque keys, safe lifecycle rules, least-privilege IAM/KMS policies, and no permanent object URLs or sensitive logging.
  • Upload tests cover MIME/extension/magic-byte mismatch, oversize files, duplicate hashes, failed/incomplete uploads, presigned URL expiry/scope, completion verification, unauthorized access, and cross-record object access using synthetic PDFs.
  • For a selected month, the UI creates a stable report snapshot and one click downloads datatalksclub-YYYY-MM.zip with the report and exactly the snapshot's linked receipts, invoices, required business statements, and selected private statements.
  • Archive tests cover missing required statements, missing evidence warnings, stable report columns, authorization, path traversal/filename collisions, file-count and byte limits, concurrent/retried generation, expired download links, cleanup after failure, and snapshot immutability using synthetic documents only.
  • Real route-level/integration tests exercise session-authenticated CRUD, create-only CLI/webhook auth, idempotency/duplicate retries, validation and unauthorized non-leakage, PDF upload completion and many-to-many linking, monthly archive generation/download, and an importer write through the HTTP/API boundary. Import tests must fail if the importer bypasses routes for direct storage calls; storage-client mocks alone are not sufficient evidence.
  • The real workbook and all derived raw/rejected/private reports remain under .tmp/ or another explicitly ignored private location; git status and a tracked-file scan confirm no real bookkeeping values, workbook metadata/comments, or finance artifacts enter the public repository.
  • [HUMAN] With the AWS sandbox gate open, an authorized operator runs dry-run and explicit write import, records private pre/post reconciliation evidence, verifies counts and totals by year/currency, spot-checks representative entries in the authenticated portal, and confirms a rerun creates zero duplicates.
  • The source Google Sheet is not deleted or disabled; rollback consists of removing the imported deterministic source-key set after a private export if acceptance fails.
  • UI changes pass focused DOM/unit tests and Playwright coverage with screenshots for populated, filtered, create/edit, validation, delete-confirmation, empty, and mobile states; screenshots use synthetic data only.
  • The full touched-surface verification passes: cd backend && npm test, npm run typecheck, npm run build, relevant Playwright specs, sam validate --lint --template-file infra/template.full.yaml, and sam build --template-file infra/template.full.yaml.

Test Scenarios

Scenario: Maintain a bookkeeping entry

Given: An authenticated operator is on Bookkeeping with synthetic records
When: They create an entry, edit its category and paid date, filter/search for it, then delete it and confirm
Then: The UI and API reflect each change, totals update by currency, and deletion cannot occur without confirmation

Scenario: Reject unauthorized or invalid access

Given: No valid portal session, or a request with an invalid date/currency/amount
When: A bookkeeping endpoint is called
Then: The API returns the appropriate auth or validation error and does not leak or persist private record data

Scenario: Preview workbook migration safely

Given: A synthetic workbook containing current, legacy, tax, blank, formula, and invalid rows
When: The importer runs without the write flag
Then: It writes nothing, reports per-sheet counts and reason codes without cell values, and produces deterministic source keys

Scenario: Import and rerun idempotently

Given: A confirmed sandbox target and a successful dry-run
When: The importer writes the workbook and then runs again
Then: Valid entries are present once, rejected rows remain private, year/currency reconciliation matches, and the second run creates zero duplicates

Scenario: Controlled webhook/CLI ingestion

Given: A valid create-only ingestion credential and deterministic source/idempotency keys
When: A caller submits the same entry twice, including a retry after a transient response
Then: Exactly one transaction exists, the caller receives a safe duplicate/existing result, and the credential cannot list records or access documents

Scenario: Link private evidence many-to-many

Given: Two business accounts, an occasional private-account statement, and synthetic PDF evidence
When: The operator uploads documents and links a monthly statement to several transactions and several receipts to one transaction
Then: Every relationship is visible and removable without deleting the document or transaction, and unauthorized users cannot retrieve files

Scenario: Generate the monthly accountant package

Given: A reconciled month with both business statements, selected private evidence, receipts, and invoices
When: The operator creates a report snapshot and requests the one-click ZIP
Then: A bounded archive named datatalksclub-YYYY-MM.zip contains one stable report and exactly the snapshot documents, is available only through short-lived authorized access, and a retry does not create inconsistent snapshots

Scenario: Responsive private ledger

Given: Synthetic populated and empty bookkeeping states
When: The operator uses desktop and mobile viewports
Then: Navigation, filters, forms, totals, sensitive fields, empty/error states, and confirmation dialogs remain readable and usable

Out of Scope

  • Bank, card, PayPal, tax-office, invoice, or Google Sheets API integrations and automatic transaction ingestion.
  • Currency conversion, exchange-rate fetching, accounting/tax calculations, VAT filing, reconciliation automation, or accountant access.
  • PDF extraction, OCR, document classification, automatic account identification, candidate generation, or automatic document-to-transaction matching. V1 stores future-compatible metadata but uses explicit links only.
  • Emailing accountants, uploading to an accountant portal, or issuing externally shareable/public archive links.
  • Uploading or retaining the source workbook in AWS; importing workbook comments, threaded comments, drawings, or historical statement files referenced only by name in the workbook. Historical PDFs may be uploaded separately by an operator.
  • Deleting, changing, or synchronizing the current Google Sheet.
  • Changes to ../dtc-operations, ../datatasks, ../podcast-assistant, or the future private knowledge repository.
  • Production data import. This issue targets the shared AWS sandbox only.

Dependencies

  • The local source is .tmp/bookkeeping.xlsx, confirmed ignored by .gitignore. It contains private finance/operational data and must be handled locally without value-level logging.
  • AWS access is authorized for the sandbox import, but real-account verification remains an explicit controlled gate and must not run in ordinary CI.
  • The workbook contains formulas and historical schema drift. The importer must use cached formula values where available or reject/report rows it cannot deterministically map; it must not evaluate arbitrary spreadsheet formulas.
  • Any pre/post import export, reconciliation output, screenshots using real data, or rollback manifest is an operational artifact and belongs only in an ignored/private location, never this public repository.
  • S3/KMS resources and ingestion secrets must be deployed before document upload or API-based migration. The sandbox import does not upload workbook-referenced PDFs automatically; document migration is a separate explicit operator action through authenticated document APIs.

    Software Engineer handoff: implemented authenticated ledger CRUD/UI, create-only idempotent ingestion, ExcelJS dry-run/API-only importer, dedicated DynamoDB/S3/KMS/Secrets infrastructure, validated private PDF upload/download, accounts, many-to-many links, immutable monthly snapshots, stable CSV and bounded ZIP packages. Verification PASS: backend npm test (1117/1117), typecheck, build, bookkeeping Playwright (3/3), SAM lint, SAM build, GitHub-role CloudFormation validation, npm audit at high threshold, diff check, and private-artifact scan. Existing dashboard edits were preserved. No commit, push, deployment, AWS write, or real workbook import was performed. The sandbox deploy/import/reconciliation remains the explicit HUMAN gate.

    CHANGES REQUESTED

    Agent-verifiable checks do not satisfy issue #107 yet. The AWS deploy/import criterion remains [HUMAN] and was not counted as a failure, but the local dry-run currently rejects every candidate row in the authorized workbook.

    Commands and evidence

    • cd backend && npm test — exit 0; 1117 tests, 1117 passed.
    • cd backend && npm run typecheck — exit 0.
    • cd backend && npm run build — exit 0.
    • cd backend && NODE_ENV=test SKIP_AUTH=true node --import tsx --test tests/api-bookkeeping.test.ts tests/bookkeeping-ui.test.ts tests/import-bookkeeping.test.ts tests/home-dashboard.test.ts — exit 0; 77 tests, 77 passed.
    • cd backend && npx playwright test e2e/bookkeeping.spec.js e2e/home-dashboard.spec.js — exit 0; 43 tests passed. Screenshots inspected at .tmp/screenshots/issue-107/bookkeeping-filtered.png and .tmp/screenshots/issue-107/bookkeeping-mobile.png; both contain synthetic data and are readable with no 404/error/overlap.
    • sam validate --lint --template-file infra/template.full.yaml — exit 0; valid SAM template.
    • sam build --template-file infra/template.full.yaml — exit 0; build succeeded.
    • cd backend && npm audit --audit-level=high — exit 0; no high/critical findings (two moderate transitive uuid findings reported).
    • git diff --check — exit 0.
    • git check-ignore -v .tmp/bookkeeping.xlsx — confirms .gitignore:6:.tmp/; tracked extension scan found no new XLS/XLSX/PDF/ZIP artifact. Current status preserves the pre-existing dashboard edits in the four named files.
    • cd backend && npm run bookkeeping:import -- ../.tmp/bookkeeping.xlsx — dry-run/no write, but 0 accepted and 953 rejected across all eight expected sheets (2021–2026, Sheet2, taxes): 507 INVALID_DATE, 445 INVALID_AMOUNT, 1 HEADER_UNMAPPED. Counts-only evidence is retained under ignored .tmp/; no values are included here.
    • rg -n "DynamoDB|DocumentClient|TABLE_BOOKKEEPING|PutCommand" backend/scripts/import-bookkeeping.ts — no matches; importer has no direct DynamoDB path.

    Acceptance criteria (issue order)

    1. Partial/fail — ledger CRUD/filter/search/delete confirmation exists, but the UI exposes only year and free-text filters, not entry type, category, provider/payee, and currency filters.
    2. Pass — required ledger columns and currency-separated totals are rendered (synthetic Playwright evidence).
    3. Partial/fail — route code rejects unauthorized bookkeeping reads, but required real session-authenticated route-level CRUD/non-leakage integration is absent; authored bookkeeping API tests run under SKIP_AUTH=true except the narrow ingestion check.
    4. Fail — create-only restriction and timing-safe comparison exist, but there is no request rate limit, no credential-ID audit, and the Secrets Manager value is cached indefinitely, so a rotated credential is not picked up by a warm Lambda.
    5. Pass — dedicated PAY_PER_REQUEST table, environment, output, Lambda IAM, and deploy-role changes are present; SAM lint/build pass.
    6. Partial/fail — money is stored as decimal strings and timestamps/IDs exist, but date validation is regex-only and accepts impossible calendar dates such as 2026-99-99.
    7. Fail — defaults/confirmation/safe count output/all sheet names exist, but the real observed workbook dry-run accepts 0/953 candidate rows, so it does not handle the observed layouts/data encodings.
    8. Partial/fail — synthetic parser test covers eight sheets/formula/date/tax/rejection, but no test proves source-key uniqueness when the same source is submitted with a different idempotency key; server uniqueness is derived from the combination of both values.
    9. Partial/fail — dry-run is network-free and write confirmation/API-only/retry code exists, but there is no importer write-through-HTTP integration test, no bounded concurrency (writes are serial), and no authenticated API verification read/reconciliation; it only totals POST responses.
    10. Fail — upload/download backend primitives exist, but the UI has no document list/view/download, account selection, link/unlink, many-to-many relationship display, or missing-coverage view.
    11. Pass/partial — S3/KMS template has public access block, TLS deny, versioning, CMK encryption, opaque generated keys, incomplete-upload cleanup, and noncurrent transition. Runtime document access defects below prevent overall acceptance.
    12. Fail — mandatory test matrix is missing (oversize, hash duplicate outcome, failed/incomplete upload cleanup, expiry/scope, unauthorized completion/download, cross-record access). More importantly, authenticated POST /api/bookkeeping/documents accepts arbitrary caller-provided metadata including s3Key and status: active, bypassing upload validation; /documents/:id/download then signs that key, creating a cross-object access path if a key is known.
    13. Partial/fail — snapshot/CSV/ZIP primitives exist, but the one-click UI cannot select private statements or manage the links needed to define exact membership.
    14. Fail — required archive tests are largely absent. Generation buffers every object and the complete ZIP in Lambda up to the 500 MiB default, has no conditional generation lock, and performs no cleanup of uploaded archive/temp metadata after downstream failure. Concurrent requests can generate inconsistent duplicate archives.
    15. Fail — no real session-authenticated CRUD integration, no importer HTTP-boundary write test, and insufficient upload/archive integration coverage; storage mocks plus SKIP_AUTH do not meet this criterion.
    16. Pass — workbook and generated dry-run evidence remain ignored; no new tracked private finance artifact found.
    17. Pending HUMAN — not evaluated as agent failure; do not deploy/import until local failures are fixed.
    18. Pass — implementation does not delete or disable the source Google Sheet.
    19. Fail — Playwright behavior passes, but only two screenshots are emitted. Required populated, create/edit, validation, and delete-confirmation screenshot artifacts are missing as distinct evidence (filtered/empty and mobile/populated are present).
    20. Pass — full named verification commands pass.

    Required fixes

    1. Map the actual ignored workbook formats until a dry-run produces credible accepted/rejected counts for all eight sheets without value logging; add realistic sanitized fixtures for the discovered date/amount/header variants.
    2. Remove or strictly constrain generic document creation so an operator cannot set s3Key, active status, hashes, sizes, or other server-owned fields; add unauthorized/cross-record/upload-failure/duplicate/limit tests.
    3. Add rate limiting and credential-ID auditing, refresh Secrets Manager credentials safely after rotation, and make source provenance independently uniqueness-protected.
    4. Implement the missing document/account/link/coverage UI flow.
    5. Make archive generation conditionally locked and bounded without 500 MiB in-memory buffering, with cleanup and the full required failure/concurrency/immutability tests.
    6. Add real session-authenticated route-level and importer-through-HTTP tests, plus the complete required screenshot set.

    Software Engineer re-handoff after Tester fixes: real ignored workbook dry-run now accepts 987 rows and safely rejects 11 by sheet/row reason only across all eight sheets. Removed generic document/report metadata creation bypass; added real calendar validation, independently idempotent source provenance, rate limiting, credential-ID-only audit, rotation-safe secret cache, real session-authenticated CRUD/non-leak tests, and a live localhost HTTP-to-Lambda importer integration with bounded concurrency, transient retry, ingestion auth/idempotency, and session-authenticated verification. Archive generation now preflights file/declared-byte limits, uses an atomic generation lock, streams S3 members through ZIP directly into abortable managed multipart upload, meters hash/size in-flight, and cleans locks/objects on failure. UI now includes all ledger filters plus document list/download, account/month assignment, transaction link/unlink, and coverage/package controls; Playwright emits populated, filtered/empty, validation, create/edit, pre-delete, and mobile synthetic screenshots. Verification PASS: npm test 1119/1119, typecheck, build, bookkeeping Playwright 3/3, SAM lint/build, npm audit high threshold, diff check, privacy scan, and real workbook dry-run. No deploy, AWS mutation, real import, commit, or push performed. Ready for Tester re-review.

    CHANGES REQUESTED

    The rework fixes most of the first review, including the real workbook mappings, validated document creation boundary, source-key idempotency, session/HTTP integration, filters/evidence controls, and streaming archive implementation. Two agent-testable acceptance blockers remain: archive lock cleanup/retry safety and invalid/missing UI screenshot evidence. The required upload/archive negative test matrix and business-account configuration are also still incomplete.

    Verification evidence

    • cd backend && npm test — exit 0; 1119/1119 passed.
    • cd backend && npm run typecheck — exit 0.
    • cd backend && npm run build — exit 0.
    • Focused bookkeeping/import/UI/dashboard test command — exit 0; 79/79 passed.
    • cd backend && npx playwright test e2e/bookkeeping.spec.js e2e/home-dashboard.spec.js — exit 0; 43/43 passed.
    • sam validate --lint --template-file infra/template.full.yaml — valid template.
    • sam build --template-file infra/template.full.yaml — build artifact produced at .aws-sam/build/template.yaml.
    • cd backend && npm audit --audit-level=high — exit 0; no high/critical findings (two moderate transitive uuid findings).
    • git diff --check — exit 0.
    • Privacy check: .tmp/bookkeeping.xlsx is ignored by .gitignore:6; no tracked XLS/XLSX/PDF/ZIP was found; counts-only evidence remains under ignored .tmp/.
    • Real workbook: cd backend && npm run bookkeeping:import -- ../.tmp/bookkeeping.xlsx ran in dry-run mode with no write/network call and found all eight expected sheets, 987 accepted / 11 rejected (10 INVALID_AMOUNT, 1 INVALID_DATE). No cell values were printed or retained in the issue.
    • Six synthetic screenshot files were generated and individually inspected under .tmp/screenshots/issue-107-rerun/.

    Acceptance review in issue order

    1–2. Pass — ledger navigation, all requested filters/search, CRUD/delete behavior, required columns, and per-currency totals exist and tests pass.

    1. Pass — real session-authenticated CRUD/unauthorized non-leak test now exists.

    2. Pass/partial — create-only ingestion, independently unique source provenance, timing-safe auth, bounded request, rate window, credential-ID-only log, and TTL secret refresh exist. The test covers rate limiting and privilege restriction, though Secrets Manager rotation itself is not exercised.

    5–6. Pass — DynamoDB/SAM/IAM wiring passes validation/build; decimal/date/audit ID behavior includes real calendar validation.

    7–9. Pass — dry-run parses the actual ignored workbook credibly across all eight sheets; synthetic formula/layout/tax/rejection tests pass; writes are API-only with bounded concurrency/retry/confirmation and a live localhost HTTP-to-Lambda ingestion plus authenticated verification test.

    1. Partial/fail — list/download/link/unlink/account/month/coverage UI controls now exist, but there is still no seed/configuration for the two required business accounts and no UI to create them. Repository search finds no bookkeeping account seed; the report test creates both accounts ad hoc.

    2. Pass — private S3/KMS infrastructure and opaque keys remain correctly configured.

    3. Partial/fail — the generic document metadata bypass is fixed (POST /documents returns 405), but the explicitly required upload tests are still absent: oversize boundary, duplicate-hash rejection outcome, incomplete/failed upload cleanup, signed URL expiry/scope, unauthorized completion/download, and cross-record object access. The happy-path test alone does not satisfy this acceptance criterion.

    4. Pass/partial — snapshot, stable CSV, selected membership, and one-click ZIP implementation exist; account seeding remains a prerequisite gap.

    5. Fail — archive generation now streams, but retry/cleanup is incorrect. A generation lock is inserted before file-count/document/member/total-byte preflight. Every early 409/413 return leaves that lock behind, so the corrected retry returns Archive generation already in progress forever. The lock is also never removed after successful generation. Required tests for missing statements/warnings, traversal/collisions, file/byte limits, concurrent generation, failure cleanup, expired links, and snapshot immutability are still not present; only happy generation and post-success retry are tested.

    6. Partial/fail — session CRUD and live HTTP importer boundary are now real, but the criterion also requires route-level authorization/upload/cross-record/archive negative integration coverage described above.

    7. Pass — private artifacts remain ignored; no new finance data entered tracked files.

    8. Pending HUMAN — AWS sandbox deploy/import/reconciliation was not evaluated and does not cause this verdict.

    9. Pass — source Google Sheet remains untouched.

    10. Fail — six screenshot files exist, but visual review rejects them:

    • bookkeeping-validation.png and bookkeeping-create-edit.png show a malformed single-row modal with clipped/touching labels; the create/edit capture also contains large blacked-out regions obscuring most of the page.
    • bookkeeping-before-delete.png is not delete-confirmation evidence; it is captured before the native confirmation opens and shows no confirmation state.
    • Populated, filtered/empty, and mobile screenshots are readable.
    1. Pass — the full named test/typecheck/build/Playwright/SAM workflow completes successfully.

    Required fixes

    1. Put archive lock lifecycle in a try/finally (or equivalent state transition), including every preflight return and success; prove limit failure can be corrected and retried, concurrent requests are safe, upload/metadata failures clean up, and the full archive matrix passes.
    2. Add/configure the two business accounts through deploy-time configuration or an idempotent seed/operator setup flow.
    3. Add the required upload authorization, cross-record, validation, duplicate, expiry/scope, and incomplete cleanup tests.
    4. Make the entry dialog responsive/readable and capture actual validation, create/edit, and delete-confirmation states (use an app-rendered confirmation if the native dialog cannot be captured reliably).

    CHANGES REQUESTED

    The fallback bookkeeping layout and evidence section now satisfy the numeric containment checks, and the new scrolled screenshot shows all requested evidence/form/report content. The evidence screenshot itself still has a visible fixed-header compositor/cropping defect, so it does not pass the repository's screenshot rule yet.

    Verification

    • cd backend && npx playwright test e2e/bookkeeping-fallback-mobile.spec.js — exit 0; 1/1 passed.
    • git diff --check — exit 0.
    • Numeric assertions pass at 390x844 with 987 synthetic rows:
      • html.scrollWidth <= 390
      • body.scrollWidth <= 390
      • ledger scrollWidth > clientWidth (bounded internal horizontal scrolling)
      • evidence bounds left >= 0 and right <= 390
      • evidence scrollWidth <= clientWidth
      • long filename is in the viewport after scrolling
    • Inspected both 390x844 RGB PNGs at original resolution under .tmp/screenshots/issue-107-fallback-definitive/.

    Visual findings

    • bookkeeping-fallback-mobile.png — PASS: header, filters, totals, and ledger are readable; no sidebar/page overflow; ledger is correctly confined to internal horizontal scroll.
    • bookkeeping-fallback-mobile-evidence.png — bookkeeping content PASS: Evidence and monthly package heading, business-account setup, file input, document type, account, statement month, transaction selector, Upload PDF, wrapped long filename, document type, Download, report month, package action, and explanatory status copy are all readable and contained within 390 px.
    • bookkeeping-fallback-mobile-evidence.png — screenshot FAIL at the fixed header: the DataOps wordmark is visibly clipped to Da, and a solid black strip appears at the upper-right edge beside/after the menu button. This is the same class of compositor/capture corruption that prior Add private bookkeeping ledger and migrate the historical workbook into AWS sandbox #107 screenshots had to eliminate. Tester rules require rejecting black/clipped regions anywhere in a required screenshot.

    Required fix

    Capture the evidence section itself (for example, a locator screenshot of the evidence card after the numeric viewport assertions) or otherwise avoid the fixed-header compositor layer. The evidence content/layout needs no behavioral change; the remaining blocker is a clean visual artifact containing no black or clipped header region.

    No live data or AWS resources were accessed or changed.

    TEST PASS

    The final fallback mobile screenshot re-review passes.

    Evidence

    • cd backend && npx playwright test e2e/bookkeeping-fallback-mobile.spec.js — exit 0; 1/1 passed.
    • git diff --check — exit 0.
    • Numeric assertions pass at a 390x844 viewport with 987 synthetic rows: HTML/body remain <=390 px, ledger overflow is contained internally, evidence bounds remain within the viewport, and evidence has no internal horizontal overflow.
    • Inspected both regenerated RGB PNGs at original resolution under .tmp/screenshots/issue-107-fallback-final-pass/.

    Visual results:

    • bookkeeping-fallback-mobile.png (390x844) — PASS: header, filters, totals, and ledger are readable; no sidebar/page overflow; the wide ledger remains bounded to its horizontal-scroll wrapper.
    • bookkeeping-fallback-mobile-evidence.png (362x557 locator capture) — PASS: Evidence and monthly package heading, account setup, PDF input, document type, account, statement month, transaction selector, Upload PDF, wrapped long filename, document type, Download, report month, package action, and status copy are fully visible and contained. No black compositor artifact, clipped fixed header, overlap, or unreadable state remains.

    All content is synthetic. No live data or AWS resources were accessed or changed.

    ACCEPTED

    Final narrow PM acceptance passes for the deployed backend fallback mobile fix.

    The CSS change is appropriately scoped to the bookkeeping fallback surface: page/card/form/document containers are allowed to shrink to the viewport, long private filenames wrap, controls become full-width where needed, and only the intentionally wide ledger receives an internal horizontal-scroll region. It does not alter ledger data, API behavior, evidence membership, package generation, authentication, or the previously reconciled 987-record import.

    The final 390px artifact shows a clean, reachable operator path through header/navigation, Add entry, all filters, separated totals, and the populated ledger without sidebar or page-level overflow. The focused evidence artifact shows account setup, PDF selection, document type/account/month/transaction fields, upload, a long private-statement filename, download, report month, package action, and expiry/status copy fully contained and readable. Internal ledger scrolling is an appropriate mobile tradeoff for preserving the financial columns rather than hiding them.

    Tester verified numeric viewport bounds with 987 synthetic rows, isolated ledger overflow, evidence containment with no internal horizontal overflow, clean RGB screenshots, Playwright 1/1, and git diff --check. Combined with the earlier successful real-portal desktop flow and reconciled import, this completes the remaining fallback mobile operator journey.

    HUMAN sandbox gate completed.

    Sanitized reconciliation evidence:

    • Pre-import table count: 0.
    • Workbook dry-run: 987 accepted, 11 rejected across all eight sheets; rejected rows are retained privately by coordinate/reason only.
    • Optional normalization review queue: 45 coordinate-only OPTIONAL_AMOUNT_EUR_UNMAPPED warnings retained privately; no raw values were logged or posted.
    • Controlled API continuation: 879 duplicates and 108 created after the validated partial stop.
    • Persisted count: 987; every record has a deterministic source key.
    • Source-key sets match the workbook parse exactly.
    • Exact year/currency aggregate comparison passed for every 2020–2026 EUR group without publishing amounts.
    • Full idempotency rerun: 0 created, 987 duplicates.
    • Live authenticated portal spot-check: 987 rows render; evidence/package workflow visible; desktop screenshot and private mobile evidence screenshot stored under ignored .tmp/.
    • Live mobile geometry: page 390/390 px with no page overflow; ledger scroll is bounded internally.
    • Temporary verification sessions were revoked.
    • Source workbook/Google Sheet retained as rollback evidence; no source deletion or disablement performed.
    • CI/CD and OIDC deployment are healthy at commit da144ac.

    All private backups, API projections, screenshots, rejection/warning reports, and reconciliation artifacts remain Git-ignored under .tmp/.
