🟡 Minor · Retry ordinary demand when cleanup completes. · changes.ts:447-465
packages/db/src/collection/changes.ts:447-465
🩺 Stability & Availability | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick winRetry ordinary demand when cleanup completes.
When
subscribeChangesadmits an ordinary subscriber while asynchronous cleanup is active,startSyncIfStopped()sees public statusreadyand does nothing.sync.resumeStart()also does nothing because cleanup cleared the deferred-start flags. Cleanup later publishescleaned-up, but no completion path restarts this demand. The subscription status listener only retries detached demand for
loadingandready; it ignorescleaned-up. Queue a retry for ordinary demand at theCollectionChangesManagercleanup-completion boundary. Otherwise the subscriber remains active while the sync handlers are cleared, so it receives no provider updates until another operation starts a new sync.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

…nt-feedback # Conflicts: # .agents/skills/oracle-authoring/SKILL.md
Law: ordinary hook errors remain readable; failed setup transfers no resource ownership. See the shared conformance and lifecycle contracts. Reach: generated origin/timing, late cleanup, partial attach and real React ordinary/infinite histories enforce mandatory reach minima in the audit. RED: extended owners reject parent 929c1d4 at handoff throw, failed-setup lease, and post-unmount ownership assertions before the repairs. GREEN: 2816 core tests, 462 React tests, six guarded replays, scoped lint and the 418-name private-member check pass. Mutant: broad recorded-error throws, late status ownership, and narrow peer detach all fail their intended assertions. Limits: finite histories; H04/H08 need legal failing traces. Earlier SSR snapshot policy remains open. Preserve rejection during active cleanup. Record measured bundle growth and refactors tried in the versioned audit.

Keep main's SourceCollectionIdReuseError code 245. Assign unused code 247 to this PR's SSR error site, record its moved source file, and regenerate the error documentation. Development message text stays unchanged. Law: each error code has one meaning and documents its current source; authority is the existing frozen production-error contract. Reach: unchanged full-source census and both development/production modes. RED: original b06da50 fails two error-site assertions, with 17 controls passing, before any production edit. The existing oracle already reaches both defects, so no grammar or assertion change is required. GREEN: all 19 error-code tests and 875 lifecycle/deferred-acquisition tests pass with no type errors. Minified build, ESM/CJS error erasure (250 literals), six SSR bundle programs, mangle, lint, formatting and generated docs checks pass. Mutant: original colliding code is rejected by the unchanged class-code uniqueness assertion. No assertion was relaxed. Limits: scoped local checks, not a full repository test or typecheck run. Size vs main 5649a07: typical app -351 gzip/-282 brotli bytes; all-export db +1220 gzip/+1014 brotli. This correction adds no branch or state; additional code-weight refactoring is unrelated to assigning a unique code. Tests and docs are separate from those production bundle measurements.
Law: Returned subscription ownership balances, every healthy observer receives cleanup, and hydration reproduces each reader's server view. Authority is the SSR guide, lifecycle contract, and maintainer decisions. Reach: Fixed/random pooled80, runtime64, mixed40, Svelte120, and stream100 histories reach each declared state. Versioned review records exact counts. RED: Expanded primary owners reject the original callback/status/view failures. Actual Router serialization and Chromium reproduce delayed first delivery. New-stream-after-cleanup and same-open controls reject sticky or broad resets. GREEN: 1099 broader core, final151 core, 749 React, 229 Svelte runtime plus7 type, 10 Router, and 15 Start/Chromium tests pass. Types/builds/bundle/API checks pass. Mutant: Isolated narrow rollback/dispatch, error-first hydration, persistent Svelte hydration, no-wait, old-clock, and close-known-pending variants fail. Limits: Finite controlled providers and installed host versions; error details, manual transport epochs, and historical unverified claims are not proved. See docs/contributing/oracle-reviews/2026-10-26-subscription-ssr-oracle-review.md.
Merges main at 1640de8 (#2235 preact-db + shared adapter identity and window binding, #2259 persisted option contracts, #2232 opt-in grouping, includes and pooling, #2229 deferred demand and SSR snapshots). Semantic resolutions: - Adapter layer: main's split kept (live-query-adapter re-exports primitives, observer, window binding); the PR's isLoadingError/isCrashed flags now live in live-query-primitives; persisted-readiness export dropped. - Observer: main's DbClient transport binding (live-query-observer-client) kept; the PR's snapshot (isSyncError, health, no persisted fields), health:change publication, toBoundaryError, and cleanup({ dependents }) ported into it. preloadForInitialRender is gone; server paths use preload(). A hydration read reproduces the server view (main); an ordinary read never hides error/crashed behind a seed (PR). Handoff runs on error or crashed. - Window controller/binding: main's getServerSnapshot/client options plus the PR's health snapshot; a crashed collection is not reused. - Effects, subscriptions, pooled views: main's admission ordering kept with the PR's owner/health hooks. A pooled view crashes at source cleanup start, an ended partition stops forwarding source health, and a listener throw is rethrown only inside the caller's own late registration. - Explicit preload reports a crashed source as it does an errored one. - Error codes: main's 245-253 keep their meaning; the PR's codes move to 254-260. docs/errors.md, reference docs and the mangle cache regenerated. - Main's new oracles ported to fail()/reportError(), cascade cleanup and the request-error law (load-subset replay, pooled gc, observer history); PR tests wrap included subqueries in include(). - preact-db exposes the PR's status/health surface (isLoadingError, isCrashed, isSyncError, health) and runs the shared conformance suite. Co-authored-by: Isaac <no-reply@databricks.com>
No textual conflicts. One semantic resolution: the lazy-demand oracle's deferred-start history expected a deferred child start to hold the first load while the query preloads. Main's deferred-acquisition law (#2229) makes the query's preload independent demand that releases the start, so the history now checks that the first load enters the adapter from the released start, and that a reload inside it still rejects. Mangle cache regenerated for the PR's changed private members. Co-authored-by: Isaac <no-reply@databricks.com>
🎯 Changes
Fix stalled queries after abandoned renders and preserve each server-rendered public snapshot during hydration.
Ordinary subscriptions start sync after abandoned renders. Admission and deferred acquisition resumption throw
CollectionStateErrorduring cleanup, including automatic GC. Awaitcollection.cleanup()before retrying. Failed setup releases ownership. Cleanup reaches healthy observers despite throwing callbacks.SSR captures each reader's rows and Collection status. Hydration preserves them through browser preloads, runtime errors, sibling commits, and delayed records. Browser status follows subscription. Missing records fail when transport ends.
Empty loading SSR needs no preload. Rows or readiness require query or source Collection preparation. Streaming Suspense prepares its result. Missing preparation throws a programming error.
The DbClient query hash includes an infinite query's initial limit and offset. Loaders and hooks need matching keys and windows. Custom dehydration filters must retain required results.
Svelte integrations must mark each hydrated root:
Nested providers inherit the value. It ends after mount, so later children read live rows. Ordinary mounts omit it.

🔬 Oracle Coverage
✅ Checklist
pnpm test.Scoped checks pass: 1,099 core tests, 749 React tests, 229 Svelte runtime tests, seven Svelte type assertions, and ten Router tests. All 15 Start/Chromium integration tests pass. Package type checks, builds, six bundle programs, minified API, production errors, and lint pass. These runs do not establish a full repository test result.
Earlier commands and limits remain in the migration audit, SSR audit, merge audit, and size audit. The oracle process update explains receiving-path checks.
