LDAP filter syntax doesn't work for Users search query filter (in Plone)

An "and" filter doesn't work in Plone, it looks like this:

(&(objectClass=person)(memberOf=CN=foo,OU=bar,OU=org,DC=foodomain,DC=bardomain))

If I use the same filter in python.ldap it works; I'm not sure if this issue belongs here or somewhere else, but I have to start somewhere...
