Fixes #507
Problem
A model-less child session was governance-checked against the governance chain (explicit choice → override → policy override → the child agent's configured default → the parent's model, spec §4.2), but
Session.createstored onlyinput.model— so at run timeSessionRunnerModel.resolvefell back toresolver.resolve(), the global default, a model governance never saw. A policy that excludes the global default (or allows only the parent's model) was checked against one model and ran another.Fix
ModelGovernance.checkedModel(entries, input)(new export inpackages/core/src/session/model-governance.ts) is now the single implementation of the judged-model chain;assertAlloweduses it, so the check and the stored model can never drift apart.Session.create(child path only): after the governance check passes, a model-less child stores the checked model as its session model. The checked model is therefore the model that runs. Top-level sessions are untouched (no governance, global-default fallback unchanged), and an explicit child model still wins.switchAgentconsistency: its check already passesinput.model ?? session.modelexplicitly — with creation storing the checked model, a governed child always carries the model it was checked against, so the switch check judges the actual run model instead of re-entering the parent-model fallback.Verification (laptop worktree, head
fb954cd3b9)bun test test/session-create.test.ts test/session/model-governance.test.ts test/session-governance.test.ts(packages/core): 129 pass / 1 fail on first run — the one failure waslists sessions in descending creation order by default(creation-timestamp ordering, no models/parents involved); a rerun oftest/session-create.test.tsalone passed 46/46 including the new regression test. CI is the deciding gate.bun run typecheckin packages/core: clean.anthropic/sonnetstores exactly that model; an explicit child model still wins.Scope notes
