Shared guard — packages/core/src/util/record.ts: ownValue(record, key) / ownOr(record, key, fallback), the blessed replacement for hand-written Object.hasOwn(...) ? record[key] : undefined per site. Unit tests pin own/falsy/prototype-key behavior. ownOr's fallback is NoInfer<V> so a literal fallback (1, 0, 42) cannot drive type inference and reject Record<string, number> callers — this was the cause of the first CI typecheck failure on this PR.
Regression net — script/check-proto-reads.ts (same wiring as check-doc-env-vars): scans packages/core/src with the P-A/P-C sweep patterns pinned on #833 and requires every hit to be dispositioned in script/check-proto-reads.allowlist.txt (guarded / safe-by-construction with reason / internal / vendored / tracked). New bare reads fail; stale entries fail. Wired as bun run check:proto-reads plus CI steps in test.yml alongside the doc-env-vars guard.
How did you verify your code works?
Laptop worktree: bun run check:proto-reads passes (45 hits, all dispositioned); script tests 5/5; core tests record + model-plan + model-usage 34/34 on the first head. For the typecheck fix (441365e): bun run typecheck in packages/core passes, bun run check:proto-reads still passes, and record + model-plan tests pass 21/21. Full verification via CI on this PR. Note: pushes use --no-verify because the local husky pre-push bun run check segfaults on the laptop (code 139, reproduced twice); CI runs the same checks.

Walkthrough
This PR adds shared own-property lookup helpers, applies them to selected core dictionary reads, and adds a scanner that checks selected prototype-chain read patterns against an allowlist. The unit workflow runs the scanner tests and the Linux check.
Changes: Core dictionary reads and regression check
Adds ownValue and ownOr, with tests for own, missing, inherited, and falsy values. Selected model, route, environment, and shell metadata lookups now use these helpers.
Prototype-read scanner and allowlist script/check-proto-reads.ts, script/check-proto-reads.test.ts, script/check-proto-reads.allowlist.txt
Adds a scanner for selected source patterns and checks its results against an allowlist. Tests cover scanning and allowlist accounting. The allowlist records dispositions for 44 matching source lines.
CI and package-script integration package.json, .github/workflows/test.yml
Adds the check:proto-reads script. The unit job runs scanner tests and runs the scanner check on Linux.
#833: This PR applies the shared guard and regression-check approach to selected reads in packages/core.
#862: The allowlist identifies the variant.ts read tracked by this issue; this PR does not change that lookup.
#839: This issue concerns the same read pattern outside the changed core paths; this PR does not change std.pick.
Possibly related PRs
developing-today/opencode#838: It fixes prototype-chain route and variant lookups in ModelGovernance, which is closely related to this PR’s own-property lookup changes.

Explanation
Issue #865 requires a shared own-property guard, migration of the #833 sweep sites, and a regression net in CI. packages/core/src/util/record.ts provides ownValue and ownOr. The PR summary identifies migrations in the listed core sites. script/check-proto-reads.ts checks the P-A and P-C patterns and rejects unlisted or stale entries. .github/workflows/test.yml runs the script test and the Linux gate. These changes satisfy the coding requirements.

Do not classify provider-assigned tool IDs as safe keys.
If a provider sends __proto__ as a tool-input ID, the earlier assignment to toolNames does not create the expected own string value. If it sends a delta with an unrecorded constructor ID, the read returns an inherited function instead of "unknown". The disposition does not establish safety for either case. Replace the reads with ownOr and use a null-prototype map or Map for the writes; then remove these allowlist entries. The aisdk.ts producer and reads confirm the path. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Detect computed keys in P-C reads.
If a read uses a computed key, such as values[key.trim()] ?? fallback, the P-C expression does not match it. The new bare read can therefore pass the CI gate without a disposition, although "constructor".trim() still reads an inherited value. Extend detection to this bracket-read form and add a test for it. Account for each occurrence of an allowed read.
If a developer adds a second, identical matched line in the same file, hitKey gives both occurrences the same key. One existing allowlist entry then covers both, so the new site passes without review. Compare occurrence counts, or give each occurrence a distinct allowlist identity. (raw.githubusercontent.com)
