Technology stacks are like Automobile Brands. There are dozens of them.
None are "right" or "wrong". They all have pros and cons. Costs and benefits.
Note: This graphic illustrates the "big" manufacturers/brands
and doesn't include brands you have definitely heard of such as Mazda, Subaru or Susuki
or smaller/niche brands like Ferrari, McLaren, Morgan and Koenigsegg
or newer brands like BYD, Fisker, Lucid, NIO, XPeng, Rivian & Tesla ...
Bottom line: there are many ways of building vehicles.
Equally there are many ways to build software and especially web-based software.
For people who haven't discovered the simplicity/elegance of Elixir + Phoenix
(or don't want to use it because it's not as fashionable ... 🙄 ) there's https://temporal.io/
Don't bother looking at the home/landing page it tells you nothing about how it works, dwyl/learn-temporal#1
it's just a sales pitch filled with social proofs of how NETFLIX, Snapchat, Coinbase, Stripe etc. use it.
@iteles / @SimonLab if you're reading this, please don't worry, it's not another thing for you to learn ... 🙄
we are still very much using Elixir + Phoenix@dwyl because the mental model is much simpler than Temporal.
The project I'm working on is building a "V2" and they are considering using this.
If they used ElixirALL of this would be included for "FREE".
