…fPicker The remap of a design's source in Meshery Cloud (layer5io/meshery-cloud#6119) walks connection -> repository -> ref -> file. The GitHub primitives from #1870 had no single-repository pick list and no ref step. - GitHubRepositoryPicker gains `singleSelect`: a plain list without checkboxes, `selected` holds at most one entry, `onChange` receives `[repository]`, and a bound repository not yet paged in is still listed. - GitHubRefPicker picks a branch, or a typed tag with `allowCustomRef`. `''` is the default branch, which is listed first and marked; picking, typing, or clearing to it reports `''`. Paging follows the other pick lists (`hasMore`, `loading`, `onLoadMore`, a loading row under the list). MUI's Autocomplete (still in 9.5) re-highlights the selected option and scrolls it back into view on any render after its options change, which threw the reader back to the selected branch whenever a page was requested or landed. The picker re-renders the Autocomplete only when what it shows changes, sends paging state to the popup through context, restores the reader's scroll position, and stops arrow keys at the last loaded branch while more pages exist. Stories (remap step, ref states), tests for each state and the paging regressions, and the pattern doc are updated. Signed-off-by: Cooper Fitzgerald <182300328+fitzergerald@users.noreply.github.com>
The remap modal's file step (layer5io/meshery-cloud#6119) uses GitHubFileTree in singleSelect mode, where a checkbox per file misstated a one-file choice. In singleSelect mode the files are now a radio group named by the tree's aria-label, with each radio visually hidden: the chosen row carries the MUI selected tint, as GitHubRepositoryPicker singleSelect does, the row shows a focus ring, and arrow keys move the choice. Picking replaces the file rather than clearing it, matching the repository picker. File icons keep their alignment with folder icons. Tests cover the radio group, replacement, and one group per tree; the file tree story gains a single-select section; the pattern doc is updated. 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Ignore Enter during IME composition in the no-match handler.
This handler runs while no loaded branch matches. In that state, Enter calls preventDefault() and pagingRequest(). CJK input methods also send an Enter keydown to confirm a candidate. A user who types a branch name with an IME therefore triggers a page request on each confirmation. Check event.nativeEvent.isComposing first and return early when it is true.
Proposed fix
(event: React.KeyboardEvent) => {
if (!noMatchShownRef.current) return;
+ if (event.nativeEvent.isComposing) return;
if (event.key === 'Enter') event.preventDefault();Based on learnings: "check e.nativeEvent.isComposing ... and ignore the Enter if true."

Intent
Assign the next four open issues in the meshery-cloud project to crewmates.
One of those issues is https://github.com/layer5io/meshery-cloud/issues/6119, "feat(ux): Remap source-design binding and commit-SHA pin for drift". Its acceptance criteria include "UI: Remap modal (connection -> repo -> ref -> file) in shared wizard components", and its author's comments say to consume the Sistent GitHub-connection primitives from #1847 rather than shipping one-off GitHub-connection UI.
Those primitives shipped in #1870, but they cover the repository step only as a multi-select and have no ref (branch or tag) step, which the remap modal needs.
What Changed
GitHubRefPicker. It is an Autocomplete for picking a branch, and withallowCustomRefit also takes a typed tag, commit, or branch. The repository's default branch is listed first and is reported as''. More branches load when the user scrolls the list or presses Enter while the filter matches nothing loaded. A live region announces loading and no-match states. Enter in the picker does not submit a surrounding form.singleSelectmode toGitHubRepositoryPicker. It shows a one-value list with no checkboxes, and a bound repository that is on a page not yet fetched is listed first.GitHubFileTree singleSelectnow shows files as a radio group without checkboxes, with the chosen row tinted. Picking a file replaces the previous choice instead of toggling it off.useLoadMorenow also returnsrequestandrequestIfArmed, so callers with no scroll container to measure can still trigger paging. This change comes with tests, Storybook stories, and updates tosystem/patterns/github-connection.mdthat cover the new connection -> repository -> ref -> file remap flow.Risk Assessment
✅ Low: The change is additive and presentational: a new
singleSelectmode on two existing pickers and a new GitHubRefPicker, all with behavioural tests and documentation. The only finding is a misleading empty-state message in one edge case of the ref picker. The change also satisfies the stated intent: a single-select repository step, a branch/tag ref step, and a single-file step for the meshery-cloud#6119 remap modal.Testing
Sistent has no Storybook runner, so I bundled the real stories and components from
src/with the repo's esbuild, served them locally and drove them in headless Chromium using a throwaway playwright-core. I covered the remap step end to end (one repository, then a branch or typed tag, then one file); paging the ref list on scroll without losing scroll position; paging when the filter matches nothing; a failed page with retry by Enter, ArrowDown or the button, inside a host form that never submitted; the live region updating outside the popup; default-branch normalization; and a single-select repository bound to one not yet fetched. All passed with no console errors (only the page's own favicon 404). Light and dark screenshots are in the evidence directory. The focused GitHubConnection jest file (91 tests) also passed. The temp harness and server were removed and the worktree is unchanged.Evidence: Form-wrapped no-match keyboard log

src/custom/GitHubConnection/GitHubRefPicker.tsx:84-NoMatchingBranchsays "No matching branch" wheneverloadingis false, even whilehasMoreis true. Example:allowCustomRefis false, page 1 is loaded andhasMoreis true, and the user typesrelease-2, which is on an unfetched page. MUI's filter returns no options, so it renders the no-options message instead of the list box. With no list box,useLoadMore's auto-fill (fillIfShort) and its scroll trigger never fire, so paging stalls and the picker wrongly says the branch does not exist. Without custom refs, the user cannot reach the branch except by clearing the filter and scrolling. This is inconsistent with a filter that matches a few rows: that list does not overflow, sofillIfShortkeeps requesting pages until it does. The same applies once a filter narrows to zero after some pages. Possible fixes: (a) show a truthful message whilehasMore(for example "No loaded branch matches" plus a way to load more), or (b) callonLoadMorefrom the no-options state whilehasMore && !loading. Which one is wanted is a product decision about search across unfetched pages, so it needs the author's call.🔧 Fix applied.

ThesearchedForguard insearchMorekeeps the branch count it last requested at, and nothing resets it whenbranchesis replaced.useLoadMorehandles this case: it re-arms whenevercontentKeychanges (loadMore.ts:44-48). GitHub pages have a fixed size, so the count collides in normal use. Example: with repo A at 30 branches, a filter matching nothing requests a page, sosearchedForis 30, and the page lands (60). In the remap flow (connection -> repo -> ref) the user goes back and picks repo B. The host swapsbranches(60 -> [] -> 30), and the user types a filter that matches no loaded branch. NowsearchedFor === 30, soonLoadMoreis never called, and the picker reads "Searching more branches..." for good with nothing in flight. The same stale guard also lets the two paging guards disagree in the other direction: a list-box auto-fill that failed at count N gets re-requested bysearchMorebecause it has its own record. Fix at the shared layer: drop the duplicate guard and haveuseLoadMoreexpose a request function (for examplerequestIfArmed()) that uses and disarms its ownautoFilledFor/lastContentKeystate.NoMatchingBranchthen calls that function, so both paths follow the one arm/disarm rule documented in loadMore.ts:30-32. Add a test for a branch reset to the same count, followed by a no-match filter.src/custom/GitHubConnection/GitHubRefPicker.tsx:94- This was added by fix round 1 and follows the user's instruction to show the searching state 'while hasMore or loading is true'. After a page that fails, the no-match state reads "Searching more branches..." with no request in flight, and the round-1 test asserts exactly that (GitHubConnection.test.tsx, 'page fails' step). Unlike the short-list case, there is no list box to scroll, so there is no retry: closing and reopening the popup or changing the filter does not issue a request either, because the count did not change. The user sees a permanent false progress message. One option is to show a retry affordance, or to stop saying 'Searching' when!loading. That is a copy and behavior decision on top of the prescribed fix, so it needs the author's call.🔧 Fix applied.

ThehandleKeyDownhandler callspagingRequest()but never callsevent.preventDefault(). MUI's Autocomplete only prevents Enter's default when an option is highlighted, which never happens in the no-match state. So if a host renders the picker inside a<form>, pressing the advertised Enter both requests a page and submits the form. A remap or connect wizard step built as a form with a submit button is the likely host. Concrete case:allowCustomRefis false, the user typesrelease-2with nothing matching, and a page has failed, so the picker shows the "Press Enter" hint. The user presses Enter, and the host's form submits with no ref chosen, or with the stale one. Fix: callevent.preventDefault()in that branch whennoMatchShown.currentis set and the key is Enter or ArrowDown. Then add a test that wraps the picker in a<form onSubmit={spy}>and asserts that Enter callsonLoadMoreand does not call the submit spy. The existing round-3 keyboard tests use no form, so they pass even with this bug.src/custom/GitHubConnection/GitHubRefPicker.tsx:109- Fix round 3 put the polite live region (role="status") insideNoMatchingBranch. MUI mounts that component fresh, inside the portalled popup, each time the filter goes from some matches to none. A live region that is inserted with its text already in place is usually not announced; only later changes to a region that already exists are. In practice this goes wrong in two cases. (1) WithhasMorefalse, typing a filter that matches nothing inserts "No matching branch", which is typically not read. (2) WithhasMoretrue, the first commit renders "No loaded branch matches...", and the auto-request layout effect swaps the text to "Searching more branches..." before paint. Both changes happen in one task, so in practice neither is announced. Only the later Searching -> No loaded/No matching changes are announced. The pattern doc (system/patterns/github-connection.md:145) says "screen readers announce each change", which claims more than the code does. Fix: render one persistent, visually hiddenrole="status"region inGitHubRefPicker, outside the popup, using the existingVisuallyHiddenfrom style.tsx. Set its text from paging state whenever the no-match state is shown, and keep the visible text in the popup without a live role. Alternatively, reword the doc to match what the code does. The new test only checks the attributes, so it cannot tell these two versions apart.🔧 Fix applied.

The new test only checks the attributes, so it cannot tell these two versions apart.src/custom/GitHubConnection/GitHubRefPicker.tsx:243- Fix round 4 callsevent.preventDefault()on every Enter while the no-match state is shown, including whenhasMoreis false and the picker reads "No matching branch". In that case Enter does not load anything, becauserequestdoes nothing. The recorded instruction asked for preventDefault only "on the Enter key that triggers load more." Example: the picker is in a host<form>with every page loaded, the user typeszzz, and presses Enter. Before this change the form submitted. Now Enter does nothing. Blocking a submit while the field holds a filter that matches nothing is arguably the better behavior, and the pattern doc (github-connection.md) now promises it ("Enter in the no-match state never submits a surrounding form"). Still, it goes beyond the instruction. If the author wants the narrower form, it isif (event.key === 'Enter' && hasMore) event.preventDefault(), with the doc sentence changed to match. Otherwise keep it as written.✅ **Test** - passed
