ApprovabilityVerdict: Needs Human Approval Macroscope's review found this PR requires human approval — This PR changes production mobile-native behavior across Android keyboard handling and Expo dependency patches, including a new Android default hardware-keyboard path. It also adds a Kotlin static-analysis suppression, while the supplied review history includes a substantive input-event correctness concern that warrants human verification. Taking over this one for mobile-04. I will preserve the native fixes and current main’s keyboard commands, run fresh test and implementation passes with independent reviews, and publish EAS simulator evidence for iOS and Android. This PR will stay unmerged. |
|
Maintainer takeover published with Android EAS before/after evidence, successful iOS/Android native builds, 14 Android Robolectric cases with mutation checks, and 6 Darwin concurrency cases with ThreadSanitizer/revert proof. Both final full-diff reviewers found no concrete code defects. The body states the remaining gates: physical keyboard QA and live iOS permission/background/cold-start push checks. Both clean iOS simulator attempts returned to SpringBoard; recovered logs did not establish a cause. All sessions and transports are stopped. This is not a merge-readiness claim. The historical missing-listener and selective replay findings remain fixed and are covered by the focused suites. The CodeRabbit Ctrl+Shift+Return-in-send-mode newline-test nit is declined: Android Ctrl produces no text character for that chord, and iOS defines no send-mode command for it. A test requiring a newline would encode the wrong behavior. The two Expo patches are reasonable upstream candidates; no upstream submission was made. |

Split submitChord to pass both detekt rules.
submitChord currently has complexity 16, and its four-term availability guard triggers ComplexCondition. Extract the hardware-return check and modifier mapping, then split the four availability checks into separate guards. Extracting the unchanged && expression into canSubmit() would leave the second failure in place.

Reduce the complexity of configureInputView to fix the detekt CI failure.
The pipeline reports CyclomaticComplexMethod for configureInputView. The complexity is 17 and the limit is 15. The new when branches in the key listener add to the count. This blocks the Mobile Native Static Analysis job.
Move the Ctrl-byte mapping into a private top-level function. Replace the when and the controlByte lookup with a call to that function. This removes the extra branches from configureInputView.

Move the Ctrl-byte mapping out of configureInputView into a private top-level
function, such as controlByteFor, and replace the inline when expression with a
call to that function. Preserve the existing key-to-byte mappings and null
fallback.

The Expo 58 upgrade left the iOS permission and notification race patches unregistered, and Android hardware Return ignored the saved keyboard preference. This registers the patches for the installed versions (
expo-modules-core@58.0.22,expo-notifications@58.1.5), builds them from source, and restores Android composer and shortcut parity while preservingcycleHostand terminal control keys.Hardware submission respects composition, editor availability and the existing Return preference. Input-connection events default to soft input; events naming a registered nonvirtual alphabetic keyboard retain their original flags so IMEs can forward physical keys. Android exposes the existing Keyboard settings route. Native changes require a rebuilt client.
Maintainer takeover of t3dotgg’s original #15030, preserving the original commits. Current main 325a7e2 was merged into published/reviewed head 10a559e.

Fresh Android device evidence
EAS Pixel 7, Android development build 26576c07, built from 10a559e, with Metro serving the same revision and an isolated real backend. The native terminal executes
pwdin the disposable workspace. Keyboard settings opens, defaults to Send message, and persists Insert new line after leaving and returning. Virtual Return produces an unsent two-line draft in both modes; real server inspection confirms the fixture remains interrupted with zero provider turns and zero effects. Drafts were cleared. The recording started after pairing, and the simulator was stopped immediately after capture. The before image is the previously captured actual-main baseline; the after image and following flow are freshly captured from the reviewed revision. Both settings details use the same crop and disposable data. The Expo development gear appears in full-screen captures but does not cover the tested controls.
Fresh recording: settings, persisted preference, both soft-Return modes, and terminal
Open gates for the coordinator
CI on 10a559e is not green. Ktlint passed, but Detekt reports composer
submitChordcyclomatic complexity 16/15 and complex condition 4/4, plus terminalconfigureInputViewcomplexity 17/15. Build/Typecheck also fails on the main-derived web testThreadDetailsPrRows.browser.test.tsxmissingopenInShortcutEnabled; mobile typechecking passes. The aggregate Check consequently fails. These are unresolved checks, not human-approval-only gates. CI run.Physical HID QA remains: both preferences/chords, held Return, focused/unfocused shortcuts, terminal control chords, composition, one forwarding IME or Chromebook, and held palette arrows. Agent-device virtual Return does not prove those paths.
Live iOS verification was attempted twice with successful simulator build 7234d8b7 from earlier source 5d7a12f (temporary arm64-only simulator setting because GhosttyKit lacks x86_64 simulator support). Both fresh iPhone 17 sessions returned to SpringBoard or reported the app not running. Recovered logs contained no T3 app-process cause. Permission prompts and background/cold-start notification replay remain unverified on device; the cause is unestablished. Both sessions were stopped. No current-head iOS live verification is claimed.
Julius requested an end to babysitting and a handoff after this Android verification. Monitoring is stopped; landing and merge decisions belong to the central coordinator. Maintainer/Macroscope approval remains required. No merge or readiness claim.
Implemented with Codex gpt-6.1-sol in T3 Code; tests by Codex gpt-6-astra; independent reviews by Claude claude-opus-5-5 and Codex gpt-6-sol.
