ApprovabilityVerdict: Needs Human Approval Macroscope's review found this PR requires human approval — This PR changes existing OpenCode catalog discovery and provider-model retention through new asynchronous event coordination, timeouts, and cache state, affecting customer-visible readiness and model availability. Unresolved Medium findings also identify refresh and event-stream lifecycle cases that can leave catalogs loading until timeout. Needs human approval because:

🟡 Minor · Invalidate retained models when the OpenCode model source changes. · ProviderRegistry.ts:182-194
apps/server/src/provider/ProviderRegistry.ts:182-194
🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick winInvalidate retained models when the OpenCode model source changes.
ProviderInstancedoes not expose its configuration. A rebuilt instance keeps the sameinstanceId, andsyncLiveSourcesclears onlyworkspaceSnapshots. The later pending-catalog merge can therefore retain models from the previousserverUrl.Expose a model-source identity on
ProviderInstance. Set it to OpenCode's effectiveserverUrl. Clearmodelsonly when the old and new OpenCode source identities differ. Same-server rebuilds must keep the current retention behavior.Suggested fix

🟠 Major · Settle an empty read from an already-ready server. · status.ts:458-460
packages/provider-opencode/src/server/status.ts:458-460
🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick winSettle an empty read from an already-ready server.
If a server previously listed models and later lists none, the
Readybranch returnsUnsettledwithlastLoaded. The same-URL driver cache therefore keeps the removed models, and later refreshes repeat the result.Readymeans the first read is final, so returnSettledwithinitialeven when it is empty. This also lets the registry clear the old models.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

Taking over this one for other-providers-21. I’ll reduce the tests and rebuild the catalog settlement against current main, focusing on same-URL restarts, warm servers and safe fallback. I compared the overlapping PR: its agreeing-read heuristic is smaller but still accepts stable partial catalogs, so this event-readiness fix needs separate verification before a supersession decision. I’ll preserve the existing commits and push here. |

Sounds good, thanks for picking this up. The branch is in a verified state at |
OpenCode can return a typed plugin-activation 503 while building its model catalog. Main immediately reports the provider unavailable. Incomplete discovery must also preserve previously published inventory until the catalog finishes loading. This rebuild retries that activation failure and retains inventory until a catalog read finishes.
For OpenCode 2.0.27+, the model endpoint itself waits for plugin activation. Use that response on every refresh, including a successful empty response. Retry only ServiceUnavailableError for service "plugin", with six attempts spaced 250 ms apart and a 30-second deadline for the whole catalog read. Timeouts keep cached models selectable with an honest pending message; authentication and unrelated failures keep their existing error behavior. Warm external servers and same-URL restarts need no replayed model event. External refreshes use the freshly probed version, so a downgrade cannot mistakenly certify an older empty response.
The event subscription, permanent ready-URL cache, agreeing-read fingerprints, and generic provider source-identity machinery were removed. Contributor history is preserved. Thanks @Narayan201120 for the original discovery/retention work in #21100.
Compatibility limit: older 2.x servers can return successful partial catalogs without a verified completion signal. Their existing five-second first-nonempty fallback is retained; this PR does not guarantee completeness or authoritative empty clearing on those releases. Adjacent official 2.0.26 and 2.0.27 handlers establish the activation-barrier boundary. A model-change event or two equal reads cannot certify older catalogs. The separate older-catalog heuristic under review elsewhere touches the same loader and must be reconciled before landing; it was not taken over or closed here.
Verification:
Before — main after the activation failure:
After — rebuilt head recovers automatically:
Composer inventory:
Authoritative empty refresh:
No authenticated provider-account inference, macOS, Windows, Electron desktop, iOS, Android, relay, or tunnel verification. Tests exercise the shared server paths; the integrated client pass was local web only. Endpoint reconfiguration/cache provenance remains an existing separate limitation. Older-version completeness remains blocked by missing upstream protocol guarantees. Human review/approval is still required before landing; this PR remains unmerged.
