fix(clients): drop the T3 Code wordmark from the sidebar and mobile headers - #26906
The top of the sidebar on web and desktop shows the "T3 Code" wordmark, and the mobile Home header, iPad thread sidebar and Android toolbar use it as their title. It makes the app feel like a website. Native apps leave that row to the window controls and content.
Apple's Human Interface Guidelines on branding say: "Resist the temptation to display your logo throughout your app or game unless it's essential for providing context. People seldom need to be reminded which app they're using, and it's usually better to use the space to give people valuable information and controls." They also say branding should "always defer to content", and suggest onboarding as the place for it. Finder, Mail and Notes start the sidebar with the traffic lights and a trailing sidebar toggle, with no app name.
Change
Web and desktop:
The sidebar's top row no longer renders the wordmark or its "Go to threads" link. The row stays as the window drag area, and the Dev and Nightly artwork and version pill stay in it.
While the sidebar is open, the sidebar toggle sits at the row's trailing edge, lined up above New thread. When the sidebar collapses it goes back to the window corner, so the main header's existing inset still fits it. The move uses the panel animation setting.
The hidden probe that measured the wordmark to set the sidebar's minimum width is gone. The minimum is now the fixed 208px.
Mobile:
CompactBrandTitle becomes HeaderStageBadge. The Home header, iPad thread sidebar and Android toolbar show only the Dev or Nightly badge. Release builds show nothing there, matching desktop, where the pill also appears only for Dev and Nightly. The offline status still replaces it when the connection drops.
The slot is always an accessibility heading named after the screen (Threads, Pull requests, or the selected tab), with the badge inside it when there is one. Release builds keep the empty heading, so the native header doesn't fall back to its plain-text title.
Onboarding, the loading screen, the marketing site and the timeline's T3 mark keep their branding. This touches the same header as #20307 (wordmark baseline) and #24209 (logo link label). Both become unnecessary if this lands.
Scope and approval
This is an intentional design change, so it needs maintainer approval of direction. I opened the Ideas discussion with the reasoning and screenshots: #26905. Approval is pending there.
Verification
vp run check:changed passes: format, lint, knip, typecheck for web, mobile and scripts, React compiler, and the tests beside the changed files.
Web, in the Browser panel against an isolated dev server with demo projects, at 1280×800 in dark mode. With the sidebar open, the toggle's box is at x=219, the same column as New thread (x=219, 28px wide). Collapsing the sidebar moves it to x=13, and the breadcrumb starts at x=52, so nothing overlaps. I captured this with Dev artwork on and with identification set to None (the release look).
iOS: iPhone 17 Pro simulator, iOS 26.2, dev client paired to the same server. The Home header shows only the DEV badge, and the filter chips and list keep their position. The accessibility tree exposes the header as Chats, Dev build. With the stage label temporarily resolving to null, as in a release build, the header shows no text and still exposes a Chats heading.
Not checked: the macOS, Windows and Linux Electron shells (traffic-light spacing, drag region), Android, iPad, a real release-variant or Nightly mobile build, and spoken VoiceOver or TalkBack output.

The sidebar top row and the mobile list headers spent space on the app's
name. Native apps leave that row to the window controls and content, as
Apple's HIG branding guidance recommends. Dev and Nightly builds keep their
stage artwork and badge.

Macroscope's review found this PR requires human approval — The change removes default header branding, the web logo navigation link, and mobile branded accessibility headings. A maintainer needs to confirm this intended product direction, including release builds showing no stage badge.

Walkthrough
Mobile headers replace the compact brand title with stage-badge headers. The web sidebar removes its brand and brand-width measurement, uses a fixed minimum width, and changes the sidebar control’s position based on layout state.
Adds stage-badge rendering and header options. Only development and preview variants resolve to labels; other variants return null. Removes the compact-brand component.
Mobile header integrations apps/mobile/src/Stack.tsx, apps/mobile/src/features/home/*, apps/mobile/src/features/threads/*, apps/mobile/src/features/workspace/*, apps/mobile/src/features/pull-requests/PullRequestToolbar.android.tsx
Uses stage-badge options or components across home, workspace, and thread headers. Toolbar callers pass screen titles instead of title accessibility labels.
