feat(web): vp run stress puts the app under concurrent streams and huge recorded pull requests - #27714
Performance work had no reliable way to put T3 Code into a heavy, realistic state: several threads streaming, approvals popping up, the sidebar churning, and a huge pull request open in the panel, all at once and the same way every time.
vp run stress builds the web client (production, unminified so profiles name real functions), starts an isolated server in .t3/stress/home with the Replay provider, and starts five supervised threads on a new stress scenario. Each turn thinks, plans, reads, asks for an edit approval, prints long command output, and streams a long Markdown reply through the server's paragraph streaming. Headless Chromium then plays a busy user for a minute: switching threads, approving edits, typing, toggling panels, scrolling. The report (report.md and summary.json) covers frame times, long animation frames with the scripts that ran in them, a CPU profile ranked by package and function, React renders, heap and DOM growth, and page errors. The rig's own Playwright work is counted apart.
vp run stress:record-pr owner/name#123 records a GitHub pull request once per machine. It fetches the base and head commits into a bare clone and opens the pull request on a recording server, which saves every read the panel makes, from the pull request page and from a thread's panel. With T3CODE_PR_FIXTURES, the server answers GitHub pull request reads from those files and builds diffs from the clone (GitHub's API truncates diffs this size), so nothing reaches GitHub. vp run stress --pr owner/name#123 links the recording to the first thread and keeps its code tab open beside the stream, expanding and scrolling diffs while the rig works the other threads. Recorded so far: pingdotgg/t3code#2829 (585k changed lines, 932 review threads) and oven-sh/bun#30412 (1M lines).
The rig is meant for scheduled runs and agent analysis, not as a CI gate. apps/web/stress/README.md explains how to run it and read the report.
Before and after the streaming fixes
"Before" is main at 305a90d, just before the fixes. "After" is main at 3cbc982, after #27420, #27417, #27418 and #27419. Both have this rig cherry-picked on top. Runs were on cups (headless Chromium, no GPU), 60 s each, with alternating order to even out drift.

The fixes cut per-update work, but paragraph streaming sends each thread at most one update every 400 ms. In wall time this scenario moves less than the 64 ms-per-update bench did.

With a huge pull request open, the main thread stays busy about 80% of the time either way. What the rig points at next:
Timeline: review conversations re-render constantly. About 38k ReviewThreadEvent renders and 29k reaction-bar popovers (PopoverRoot through PopoverPortal) in a minute.
Code tab: it keeps every expanded diff in the DOM. Nodes reach 230k–490k, with the heap at 0.8–0.9 GB.
Long frames: 14 s come from input handlers and 13 s from server messages.
Streamed Markdown: link tooltips still render about 11.5k times per minute in the threads-only run.

For a filename containing a double quote, patchPaths returns { oldPath: "", newPath: "" } because Git quotes unusual paths in diff --git headers and the regex only matches unquoted paths. Replay then supplies empty paths to getDiffFilePaths, so expanding context for that file fails; parse Git’s quoted path format or retrieve paths using a NUL-delimited listing.

Summary
Pull-request fixture recording and replay apps/server/src/pullRequest/PullRequestFixtures.ts, apps/server/src/pullRequest/PullRequestFixtures.test.ts, apps/server/src/pullRequest/PullRequestProviderRegistry.ts
Adds GitHub provider fixture recording and replay for pull-request reads, including Git-based diff and file data. Adds patch and numstat parsing helpers with tests, and applies the fixture wrapper during provider registry construction.
Adds a seeded four-turn transcript generator. The replay agent loads generated or file-backed transcripts, and the scenario test uses the shared loader.
Stress runtime and browser actions apps/web/stress/stack.ts, apps/web/stress/ui.ts
Adds workspace and server utilities, pull-request parsing, and Playwright helpers for threads, pull-request panels, tabs, diffs, and scrolling.
Adds a CLI that fetches pull-request revisions and records reads while visiting pull-request tabs and a linked thread panel.
Browser measurement and analysis apps/web/stress/probe.ts, apps/web/stress/analyze.ts
Adds browser collection for frame timing, long frames, React renders, and errors. Analysis helpers summarize frame timings, renderer tasks, long-frame scripts, and CPU profile data.
Stress-run CLI and reports apps/web/stress/run.ts, apps/web/stress/README.md, package.json, knip.jsonc
Adds the stress-run workflow and report generation. Documents the rig and registers the stress commands as package scripts and Knip entries.

The generic replay loop overwrites the getFilesViewed fallback.
Lines 294-297 define getFilesViewed with an empty-result fallback for reads that were not recorded. RECORDED_READS also contains getFilesViewed, so the loop at Lines 311-314 replaces that handler with recorded(...). This happens whenever provider.getFilesViewed exists. A getFilesViewed call with no recording then fails as not-found instead of returning { files: [], truncated: false }. The fallback never runs.
Skip getFilesViewed in the loop, as the loop already does for getViewer.

…reads and records how it holds up
Performance work had no way to put the app under realistic concurrent load.
The rig builds the web client, starts an isolated server with the Replay
provider, streams several long threads that stop for approvals, and drives a
busy user in headless Chromium. It records frame times, long animation frames
with their scripts, a CPU profile by module and function, React renders, heap
and DOM growth, and page health into a report for daily runs.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…ide the streams
Huge pull requests could only be tested against GitHub, which truncates their
diffs and answers differently every time. `vp run stress:record-pr` records
one: it fetches the base and head commits into a bare clone and saves every
read the pull request panel makes while it opens the page and a thread's panel.
With `T3CODE_PR_FIXTURES`, the server serves GitHub pull request reads from
those files and diffs from the clone, offline. `vp run stress --pr` links the
recording to a streaming thread and expands and scrolls its diffs while the rig
works the other threads. Threads now run supervised, so approvals pop up, and
profile samples outside the page's own scripts are counted apart.
