By profession: Embedded Software Engineer. Communication protocols on microcontrollers, test infrastructure, and the kind of debugging that involves both a stack trace and a logic analyzer. Before that, analog ICs and PCB design — which is why I still reach for the datasheet before I reach for the debugger.
By obsession: HAM Radio. Antennas, software-defined radio, and turning IQ samples into something a human can actually understand.
- Software-defined radio — Signal processing in Rust, from raw samples up to decoded data. Modular, multi-threaded, and fast enough to keep up with the air interface.
- Digital voice & data modes — TETRA, DMR, M17. Mostly the metadata side: What's on the air, where, and how it's structured.
- Embedded systems — Bare-metal C on ARM, a bit of FPGA, and the test setups that prove it all actually works.
- RF hardware — Filters, amplifiers, antennas, and a lot of measurement gear.
