[merge-to-it] logging_config: log invalid arguments instead of raising - #1202
Conversation
set_console_level() takes a level name only and logs an unknown one; set_logger_colors() logs and skips a value that is not purely SGR escapes. A bad logging argument no longer stops the host application. _core.root_logger replaces ROOT_LOGGER_NAME across the package. Signed-off-by: Lotus Li <lotusl@nvidia.com>

- Line 142: Update set_console_level to check whether level is a string before
calling lower(); log the invalid argument for non-string levels while preserving
the existing validation for strings.

set_console_level() takes a level name only. An integer, or any other non-string, is now logged as an error and the threshold kept, instead of raising AttributeError on .lower(). resolve_level() drops its integer pass-through, which no caller reaches any more. Summary
A bad logging argument no longer raises into the host application:
set_console_level()takes a level name only (trace … critical, any case); an unknown name is logged as an error and the threshold is kept.set_logger_colors()logs and skips a value that is not purely SGR escapes; the other entries still apply._core.root_logger(theisaaccapturelogger) replacesROOT_LOGGER_NAMEacross the package.set_console_filter()is unchanged here; its replacement in #1204 logs invalid patterns the same way.Testing
