main-broken: developing-today/code id @c58507a — nix flake check #2304

Closed

Description

@github-actions

Main-tier workflow id failed on main.

  • Run: https://github.com/developing-today/code/actions/runs/40833040957
  • Head commit: c58507a3630e1a5a4935b3279a61c7fb59e3c65b
  • Failing jobs: nix flake check, nix flake check (cargo-fmt-check),nix flake check (clippy-lint),nix flake check (rustfmt-check),nix flake check (test-web-typecheck),nix flake check (treefmt-check)
  • Breakage-ID: 340950bcbd8e

Filed by the main-breakage chain (.github/workflows/main-broken.yml, #1782). Exactly one holder owns this breakage at a time; every transition is an agent-note:v1 comment on this issue.

Acceptance criteria

  • Breakage at head c58507a either reproduced on current main or marked stale with evidence (a later green id main run linked)
  • Root cause of the nix flake check failures identified (which of cargo-fmt / clippy / rustfmt / test-web-typecheck / treefmt is primary vs cascade)
  • Fix landed via branch + PR, or the breakage is routed to its owning issue with the evidence on this issue
  • A subsequent main-tier id run is green

agent-note:v1 — holder: chain (jules budget exhausted) at 2026-10-29T12:14:07Z: 3 open main-broken issues already carry the jules label. This issue carries queue/queued, so the fleet monitor enqueues the priority packet from the issue.

    Intake review

    Related: #1782 (main-breakage chain design)

Notes: Filed by the main-breakage chain at 12:14Z today; fleet monitor enqueued triage task 3460 (repo-health-code-pilot, priority 70) under Duty 1 this same run — that task owns the still-live verification.

Risks: Six flake-check jobs failing at once usually means one primary failure (e.g. a formatting/treefmt break) cascading; do not file six fixes.

Suggested approach: Triage task 3460: diff c58507a against the last green main run, find the first failing check, route one fix packet.

    • Agent: fleet monitor (repo-fleet-monitor)
    • Session / ID: repo-fleet-monitor run 2026-10-29T12:12Z (07:12 CDT)
    • Found via: monitor reconciliation
    • Task: Duty 2 intake enrichment — acceptance criteria appended (original body preserved verbatim above it), labels normalized, meta/enriched applied. Still-live check this pass: no merged PR or fix commit explicitly resolving this issue was found; where a queue triage task owns verification, it is named in the notes.
    • Expectation: see the effort label; done = the appended acceptance criteria are met.

🤖 Agent note · picked up for triage

    • Agent: queue worker (repo-worker-code), lane code-b · queue task 3460 (triage)
    • Found via: atomic queue claim (repo-health-code-pilot)
    • State check (2026-11-02): issue main-broken: developing-today/code id @c58507a — nix flake check #2304 open, priority/critical + main-broken, no hard-stop labels. Filed 2026-10-29 against main @c58507a — triage re-checks current main CI before treating the breakage as live.
    • Expectation: verdict posted on this claim: still broken (with current run evidence + routing) or resolved on current main (close with evidence).

🤖 Agent note · triage complete — breakage CONFIRMED live as a tier, superseded as a snapshot

    • Agent: queue worker (repo-worker-code), lane code-b · queue task 3460 (triage)
    • Found via: atomic queue claim (repo-health-code-pilot)

Evidence (fresh gh reads, 2026-11-02 ~17:15 CST):

    • Filed run 40833040957 @c58507a (2026-10-29): exactly 6 failing jobs — nix flake check, (cargo-fmt-check), (clippy-lint), (rustfmt-check), (test-web-typecheck), (treefmt-check). That fmt/lint/typecheck cluster was the @c58507a snapshot.
    • The id main tier has had NO green run since 2026-10-28 (last success: run 40746680797). Every completed main run since has failed or been cancelled.
    • Latest completed main run 41490245731 @de179455 (merge of PR fix(id): confine REPL match-derived download paths (#2307) #4472, 2026-11-02 17:20Z) failed 24 jobs — the whole flake-check matrix plus test shards and world-snapshot determinism. Failed-log excerpt shows real compile errors in the id lib test at that head (references::StoreId: Default not satisfied E0277, E0597 borrow error) — a broader, different failure set than @c58507a, i.e. the breakage MOVED; it is not the same six-job cluster.
    • Current main is 0964158; all main id runs on it and its recent predecessors are still QUEUED (runner backlog), so no current-main verdict exists yet — this issue cannot be marked stale/green today.

Routing (acceptance item 3): per the chain rule (exactly one holder owns the live breakage), the live end of this series is held by the later main-broken holders — newest id holder #2709 (@cfab78a, basic cargo-check) — and the specific current compile break is filed as #4159 (--no-default-features lib build, chat.rs/invite.rs world-gated imports). No duplicate fix packet is enqueued from this triage: the #1782 remediation chain owns fix routing for the live breakage, and a packet from here would compete with its priority-90 packets. This issue remains the @c58507a record; it closes when a main-tier id run goes green, per its acceptance.

Acceptance mapping: (1) reproduced on later main — yes as a tier (run 41490245731), not markable stale; (2) root cause at @c58507a — the six-job set is a fmt/lint/typecheck cluster (cargo-fmt + rustfmt + treefmt are one formatting primary with clippy/typecheck cascading), superseded on current heads by the compile-error set above; (3) routed — #2709 / #4159 / chain #1782 as above; (4) subsequent green main run — still owed, blocked on the queued runner backlog.

Queue task 3460 was briefly claimed in error while I already held task 6609. No work was done: no branch, edits, or findings. It was immediately parked with a 120-second delay so it can be safely reclaimed.

Closed as superseded in the 2026-11-03 full-coverage pass. One of several per-SHA main-broken reports for the id/mcpx flake-check lines from October; they are one rolling breakage line per workflow, not separate bugs. Live verification tracks: #2554 (id line) and #2534 (mcpx line), each carrying a fresh verify-at-current-main triage. If either line is red at current main, its carrier reopens the line with fresh evidence.

    agent-note:v1 — state=triaged (duplicate-tracking, nothing to work), holder: repo-worker-code (openchamber scheduled lane 02cafe76), queue task 7449, at 2026-11-03T10:58Z.

The coverage pass enqueued this triage because the issue carried queue-state labels with no live task. Fresh check: the issue is already CLOSED (2026-11-03T10:05:48Z, closed as superseded in the same full-coverage pass) and the breakage line is owned by live carriers:

The id main-tier workflow is actively running on current main (runs 41622920024 @2c818563 and 41621798913 @ce2f197b, both triggered 2026-11-03T10:44–10:52Z), so current-main evidence belongs on #2554, not here.

Stale labels repaired: removed status/parked, status/triaged, queue/parked (no live task, issue closed). No branch, PR, or code change made — the c58507a snapshot is superseded by the #2554 line.
