ApprovabilityVerdict: Approved at Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — iOS image previews reuse cached image files instead of downloading them again, with original URLs retained as a fallback. Existing URL refresh and scoped cache keys limit the change to how preview bytes are loaded. You can add or adjust custom eligibility rules. Learn more. |

🟡 Minor · Propagate the GitHub media cache key to markdown thumbnails. · FilePreviewModal.tsx:58-72

🚀 Performance & Scalability | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick winPropagate the GitHub media cache key to markdown thumbnails.
PullRequestMarkdown.MarkdownImagedoes not passmedia.cacheKeytoThreadMarkdownImageView. The new preview resolver uses the stablet3-github-mediakey for immutable GitHub resources, but this thumbnail is cached without that key. The iOS lookup can miss and fall back to the remote preview URL.Suggested fix

… immutable A client can cache these by URL. Branch and tag refs can move, so they stay unmarked. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The server signs a fresh URL on every mint and expo-image caches by URL, so markdown, media-file and pull request images downloaded again on every cold launch, scroll back and tap. Host files now cache under the fileRevision the server already returns, and GitHub uploads and commit-pinned files under their canonical URL, each scoped to the environment. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Tapping an image on iOS re-downloaded bytes expo-image already had on disk for the thumbnail. The preview now re-signs as before, builds the thumbnail's cache key from that fresh mint, and hands Quick Look the cached file when there is one. If the file was evicted before native copies it, the preview retries once with the remote URLs. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Note Written by merged current main into the original contributor branch without rebasing at blacksmith verification passed unverified: current-head ios quick look cache hits, eviction fallback, gallery selection, dismissal and document previews. device discovery returned "Agent device access is turned off for this environment." chrome on linux cannot exercise quick look. the existing contributor recording remains in the body; this pass adds no runtime or performance claim. |

Note Written by Verified in a real dev environmentnone of the changed runtime behavior could be exercised on this linux vm. this is an unverifiable result, not a runtime pass. i inspected the description, discussion, all four pr commit authors, and the 12-file diff at Not verifiedthe changed user path is tapping an image thumbnail in the native ios app, resolving a fresh authorized asset url, looking up the thumbnail cache key in expo-image, and handing quick look the cached local file. chrome on linux cannot execute the device discovery call returned exactly: therefore i could not reproduce the original redownload on main or verify cache hits, remote fallback after eviction, a gallery starting at its second image, dismissal, document previews, image updates, or url refresh/reconnect behavior. no real provider turn, dev-server runtime check, screenshot, recording, or timing measurement was made. i created the requested separate main worktree, but stopped before installs or server startup once the native-device blocker was established, and removed that unused worktree. no code or branch changes were made. an ios device host with device access enabled is required to finish the before/after pass using a real codex |

Important
Stacked on #21527. It targets
mainbecause the fork can't push a branch to pingdotgg, so it also includes #21527's commits. Only the top commit is new. Merge #21527 first.Problem
On iOS, tapping an image in a thread downloads the full image again before Quick Look opens, even though the thumbnail you just tapped is already on disk. On a slow connection, you tap and wait.
Fix
Using the cache keys from #21527, Quick Look opens the cached file when the app already has the image. Otherwise, it downloads as before. If the cached file is cleared before Quick Look reads it, the preview retries once with the download.
iOS only. Android and other surfaces are unchanged.
