🟠 High lib/mermaidSvg.ts:66
Diagram labels containing var(...) are rewritten or deleted, so A["var(--brand)"] renders without its label (and an unmatched var( can consume the rest of the SVG). Line 66 resolves variables across the entire SVG string, including text content; restrict substitution to styling attributes so labels remain unchanged.

Fixed in 2e4ff7a. Substitution now runs only on attribute values inside tags, so label text like var(--brand), an unmatched var(, or color-mix(...) is left untouched. Added a test with those labels (it fails on the previous code) and one sweeping classDiagram, gantt and timeline output for leftover CSS in markup.

ApprovabilityVerdict: Needs Human Approval Macroscope's review found this PR requires human approval — This PR adds automatic Mermaid rendering to the mobile chat path, including a new renderer, SVG transformation layer, UI component, dependency, and interaction behavior. The unresolved review finding identifies possible corruption of diagram labels during SVG processing, so the production behavior and fix require human review. Needs human approval because:

Mobile needs the same Mermaid renderer the web app uses so diagrams parse and lay out identically on both clients (pingdotgg#24212). pele is pure JS, so no native rebuild is needed. Model: Claude Opus 5.5 (claude-opus-5-5) via Claude Code in T3 Code
Closed top-level mermaid fences are swapped for a standalone image whose URL keys the rendered diagram, so the native document reserves a media slot for it. Unclosed (still streaming), nested, and unrenderable fences stay code blocks. pele colors diagrams with CSS variables that react-native-svg cannot resolve, so they are replaced with the markdown theme's colors. Model: Claude Opus 5.5 (claude-opus-5-5) via Claude Code in T3 Code
Mobile showed ```mermaid fences as raw code because the native markdown renderer has no Mermaid support. Diagrams are now rendered with pele to an SVG string in JS and drawn with react-native-svg in the markdown media slot. pele loads on the first diagram and results are cached. Touch and hold a diagram to copy its source. Closes pingdotgg#24212 Model: Claude Opus 5.5 (claude-opus-5-5) via Claude Code in T3 Code
nativeMermaidSvg resolved var(...) and color-mix(...) across the whole SVG string, so a label such as `var(--brand)` was rewritten or deleted, and an unmatched `var(` could swallow the rest of the SVG. Substitute only inside tag attribute values; pele escapes label text, so labels live in text nodes. Model: Claude Opus 5.5 (claude-opus-5-5) via Claude Code in T3 Code

Problem
The mobile app shows a
```mermaidfence as raw code. Web and desktop render it as a diagram (#21472, via pele); mobile'sreact-native-enriched-markdownhas no Mermaid handling. Reported in #24223.Change
Mobile now renders Mermaid with the same engine as web (
pele@^1.8.0, same version), in JS, so there is no native rebuild and no new native module (react-native-svgis already linked).peleis imported whole (Metro has no code splitting), about 260 KB gzipped on the mobile bundle. Registering only the common diagram types would roughly halve that, at the cost of other types staying as code on mobile only.Commits are split as dependency, pure logic + tests, then UI wiring.
Scope and approval
Fixes #24223 (bug report with screenshot; not triaged yet, so there is no maintainer approval comment to link). This brings an existing web/desktop capability to mobile with the same renderer, adds no setting, and falls back to today's behavior (the code block) whenever rendering isn't possible. @t3dotgg @juliusmarminge please say if you'd rather agree on direction in an Ideas discussion first, or want the diagram-type set trimmed to save bundle size.
Verification
vp run check:changed: format, lint, knip, typecheck (32 packages) and tests pass.vp test run apps/mobile/src/lib: 414 tests pass. New tests inmermaidDiagrams.test.tscover closed vs. streaming fences, nested and unrenderable fences left as code, and CSS variables fully resolved against real pele output.react-native-svgcan't read. Parsed five types withreact-native-svg's real SVG parser in Node (root colors and font size correct,&and<display properly in labels).Not verified: no simulator or device run, so there are no before/after screenshots yet. Still to check on iOS and Android: diagram sizing without a layout jump, light and dark themes in assistant messages and user bubbles, touch-and-hold copy (Android may clash with the link menu), and a diagram streaming from code to diagram. I'll add captures here once I have them.
Known limits: no full-screen view (the image viewer can't show SVG), very wide diagrams get small on a phone,
$$math in labels shows as source, labels use the system font so widths can differ slightly from what pele measured.Closes #24223
