perf(mobile): bound streaming markdown cache and pending work - #24263
Streaming markdown retained growing cache keys and queued obsolete native renders. This bounds iOS measurement-key storage to 8 MiB, keeps only the newest pending render, and combines the common file-link/table preprocessing path while preserving the existing fallback ordering.
Native changes and their source regression harness now live in the maintained enriched-markdown fork. T3 Code consumes the rebuilt 1.2.0-t3.16-558767d9 tarball; no enriched-markdown patch remains. The archive records the exact source commit in t3-fork.json.
Validation: fork install/build passed; the native harness passes against both fork source and the installed tarball, covering byte eviction, oversize keys, LRU updates/removal, latest pending revision, capture release and invalidation. Packed native files match the fork exactly. T3 Code check:changed passes (format, lint, unused patches, knip, affected typechecks and tests). A native client rebuild is required.
Existing benchmark and methodology and fixture matrix describe host measurements, not phone latency or battery improvements. Main-queue apply captures can still accumulate; this does not claim a global two-revision memory bound.
Implemented and verified with GPT-6.1-sol through the T3 Code Codex harness.
Takeover
Kept the common combined file/table pass and AST-derived pipe fallback; HTML remains separate. Main's file-embed callback path preserves HTML → file links → embeds → tables and makes no JS parse-reduction claim.
Native code and its reusable source harness belong in the maintained fork; the local patch, scripts and package test entry were removed by the maintainer follow-up. The concurrent main merge was retained after independent review; no replacement push was needed.
Evidence
Fresh host report, fixture matrix, reproducible bundle, independent published-head audit: PASS.
63,538 comparisons, zero differences. Combined stream: 81 → 54 parse entries; host median 2,711.054 → 1,406.421 ms; logical UTF-8 stage traffic 1,555,548 → 1,138,401 bytes. Callback stream: 80 → 80 parses; no reliable speedup asserted. These are host observations, not heap or phone measurements.
Portable C++ cache recapture: 269,254,656 → 8,388,416 accounted bytes; queue evidence is HOST MODEL ONLY. Independent pass 2 reran 58,964 comparisons with zero differences and verified source applicability to the published braces-only revision.
Verification log
Published head: 32cd033, merged main 7bafc40. Measured local merge differs only by braces; parser/native/test bytes match. Independent audit confirms applicability.
Nine review rounds; final A and B both MERGE. Earlier escaped-pipe/unmatched-backtick equivalence defects were fixed using actual AST edits. Wrapper argument handling was fixed before its harness moved to the fork.
Final primary scoped run: 56 tests pass across the three markdown files. Integration mobile typecheck, scoped formatting/lint and install passed; one inherited HTML lint warning remains. Original focused coverage was 18 tests; takeover coverage reached 30 before main added embed cases.
CI: 30/30 checks pass on the published head. The cancelled fingerprint run has a successful replacement. No conflicts or new actionable CodeRabbit findings at final inspection. Macroscope's human-approval requirement remains the dispatcher's merge decision; no merge performed.
iOS Objective-C/Foundation/device and Android rendering: UNVERIFIED by this Linux takeover. Maintainer's fork-native validation above is separate. Older-binary runtime behavior was not tested; native fixes require rebuilding.
Accounted key storage excludes allocator overhead. Completed main-queue apply captures can accumulate; there is no global two-revision memory bound. Underlying parser/HTML worst cases remain nonlinear. Callback-path timing is inconclusive; no UI/frame/battery claim.
Model/harness: all takeover implementation, tests, independent reviews and proof audits used GPT-6.1-sol through the T3 Code Codex harness.

Macroscope's review found this PR requires human approval — This PR changes the production iOS markdown renderer by adding byte-budgeted cache eviction and coalesced asynchronous rendering, alongside a broader preprocessing-path refactor. The behavior is well tested and scoped to markdown, but the new native scheduling and rendering semantics warrant human review.

Walkthrough
Mobile Markdown rendering now uses a shared pipeline for HTML conversion, inline file links, and table breaks. Compatibility tests compare its output with the prior transformations. The mobile app also points to an updated enriched Markdown tarball.
A shared transformer coordinates inline file-link edits and table-break insertion. applyMarkdownEdits applies edits in source order, and the Markdown helpers delegate to the shared transformer.
Native rendering integration and compatibility tests apps/mobile/src/native/EnrichedMarkdownText.tsx, apps/mobile/src/lib/markdownInlineFileLinks.test.ts
Native rendering calls markdownForNativeRendering. Tests compare its output with frozen prior transformations across fixture prefixes and newline styles.
The dependency source and build allowlist target the updated tarball. The README describes an 8 MiB measurement-key budget and coalesced pending renders.
pingdotgg/t3code#15641 — The updated renderer tarball is described as adding measurement-key bounds and coalesced pending renders, but the changes do not address Reanimated commit starvation.

The authorization source is the maintainer’s direct T3 audit request, quoted and linked in the description. This is maintainer-authored work under @juliusmarminge, not an external contribution seeking approval for an unsolicited direction. There is no public approval discussion to link, and I will not invent one or classify this native scheduling change as a trivial-fix exemption. The description retains that limitation explicitly. Macroscope’s human-review requirement remains applicable before merging; this thread has no merge authorization. No implementation finding was reported.

🎯 Functional Correctness | Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Accept a mode without a dependency path.
If a developer runs node scripts/test-enriched-markdown-native.mjs cache, the optional dependency path is omitted. Validation accepts the command, but realpathSync then tries to resolve cache as a directory and the tests never run. Treat a first argument of cache or coordinator as the mode, use the default dependency path, and pass the mode to the executable.

## What is this?
`micromark` is an open source markdown parser written in JavaScript. It’s implemented as a state machine that emits concrete tokens, so that every byte is accounted for, with positional info. It then compiles those tokens directly to HTML, but other tools can take the data and for example build an AST which is easier to work with (`mdast-util-to-markdown`).
While most markdown parsers work towards compliancy with CommonMark (or GFM), this project goes further by following how the reference parsers (`cmark`, `cmark-gfm`) work, which is confirmed with thousands of extra tests.
Other than CommonMark and GFM, micromark also supports common extensions to markdown such as MDX, math, and frontmatter.
These npm packages have a sibling project in Rust: `markdown-rs`.

## Install
This package is ESM only. In Node.js (version 16+), install with npm:
npm install micromark
In Deno with `esm.sh`:
import {micromark} from 'https://esm.sh/micromark@3'
In browsers with `esm.sh`:
<script type="module">
import {micromark} from 'https://esm.sh/micromark@3?bundle'
</script>
## Use
Typical use (buffering):
import {micromark} from 'micromark'
console.log(micromark('## Hello, *world*!'))
Yields:
<h2>Hello, <em>world</em>!</h2>
You can pass extensions (in this case `micromark-extension-gfm`):
import {micromark} from 'micromark'
import {gfmHtml, gfm} from 'micromark-extension-gfm'
const value = '* [x] contact@example.com ~~strikethrough~~'
const result = micromark(value, {
extensions: [gfm()],
htmlExtensions: [gfmHtml()]
})
console.log(result)

Calculate the table line start from the source newline.
When a table follows paragraph text inside a container prefix that contains a tab, micromark expands the tab for start.column but does not advance start.offset for the virtual spaces. For >\t| a | b |, start.offset - start.column + 1 can point before the table line. The regex can then consume part of the preceding paragraph and place the blank line incorrectly.
[ERROR] 343-343: A nonliteral argument is passed to exec/execSync. Identify the receiver: Node child_process methods execute shell commands, while regular-expression and database methods have different contracts. For shell execution, prefer execFile or spawn with an argument array.

Review comment at @apps/mobile/src/lib/markdownDocument.ts around lines 290 -
357:
Update the table-break logic in transformNativeMarkdown to calculate lineStart
from the nearest preceding source newline before start.offset, handling both
carriage returns and line feeds, rather than deriving it from start.column. Keep
the existing prefix matching and edit behavior unchanged.

T3 Code consumes the rebuilt
1.2.0-t3.16-558767d9tarball; no enriched-markdown patch remains. The archive records the exact source commit int3-fork.json.Validation: fork install/build passed; the native harness passes against both fork source and the installed tarball, covering byte eviction, oversize keys, LRU updates/removal, latest pending revision, capture release and invalidation. Packed native files match the fork exactly. T3 Code
check:changedpasses (format, lint, unused patches, knip, affected typechecks and tests). A native client rebuild is required.Existing benchmark and methodology and fixture matrix describe host measurements, not phone latency or battery improvements.
