refactor(web): command palette state lives in a store, git and branch pickers drop timer and sync effects - #25733
The command palette kept its open state in a component reducer. Every way in (sidebar buttons, Cmd+N, PR links) went through a window CustomEvent that an effect passed on to the reducer. Its shortcuts were one window listener that re-attached whenever the theme, keybindings, terminal or preview state changed. An open intent ("Add project", "New thread in...") was applied by a layout effect that dispatched back to the parent to clear itself.
GitActionsControl ran its own focus/visibility listener plus an interval and a timeout effect. BranchPicker measured its scroll fades two frames after opening and scrolled to the top from a previous-value effect.
Change
Palette state store.commandPaletteStore is a zustand store driven by the existing reduceCommandPaletteUiState, and openCommandPalette dispatches to it directly. With no palette mounted (for example on /pair) the request is dropped, as the unheard window event was on main. The palette, theme and usage shortcuts are now one dispatcher scope (shortcuts/commandPaletteCommands.ts), installed in appInit. It is live only while a palette is mounted (useCommandPaletteMount, an explicit mount effect, since leaving the route calls no close handler) and reads the route, panels and theme when the key is pressed. Unmounting the last palette resets the store.
Intents start a session. Each intent bumps session, and the palette view is keyed by it, so the view starts in the intent's submenu on its first render. The "Add project" and "New thread in..." submenus build their items while rendering (resolveAddProjectEntry), so they update as environments and projects load. Before, they kept whatever existed when the palette opened.
GitActionsControl.
Elapsed time reads the shared second clock (useNowSecond).
The inline success row hides at a deadline (useDeadlinePassed).
The focus/visibility status refresh is one shared atom per checkout (vcsStatusRevalidation). As on main, every window focus and every switch to a visible tab refreshes, with the same 250ms debounce. This restores the subscribeWake option in createVcsStatusRevalidationAtomFamily, which https://git.cafe/pingdotgg/t3code/pulls/25152 removed while it had no consumer.
BranchPicker. The fades update from a ResizeObserver attached in the list's ref callback. Typing scrolls the list to the top from the input's change handler. The resultsQuery prop is gone.
AddProjectToMachineDialog. Instead of an effect, each request subscribes to its project and ends when the project goes away, even before the dialog shows. openAddProjectToMachine ignores a project that no longer exists. Each request remounts the dialog.
What this improves
Sync removed. The palette no longer relays window events into a reducer, and its intent is no longer applied and then cleared from a layout effect. The git status refresh, elapsed timer and success timeout no longer each run their own effect. The branch picker no longer runs a previous-value effect.
Renders avoided. The CommandPalette shell no longer subscribes to the theme, keybindings, terminal UI store, right-panel store or location. Theme, terminal or preview changes no longer re-render it or re-attach a window listener.
Bugs fixed. None claimed. I found no regression test that fails on main for a user-visible bug here (see Behavior changes).
Behavior changes
"New thread in..." with no projects loaded now opens the empty Projects submenu, which fills in as projects load. On main the intent waited for at least one project. Until then the palette opened at the root, and when projects arrived it jumped into the submenu and reset the query. CommandPalette.browser.test.tsx "opens New thread in..." passes here and fails on main for this reason.
"Add project" with no connectable environment opens a "Connect an environment" row. Before, it closed the palette and went straight to Settings -> Connections. With one environment it opens the source list directly, as before.
When an intent arrives while the palette is open (for example a PR link search), the palette view remounts from that intent instead of resetting its fields one by one.
Typing in a branch picker scrolls the list to the top right away, not after the deferred results render.
If its project disappears, the Add-project-to-machine dialog animates closed instead of unmounting. Before, a request for a project that no longer existed was set and then cleared by an effect; now it is ignored.
An expired inline git success row stays in component state but is hidden; nothing reads it after that.
Not included
These are from the original unit. Removing the branch-default write in BranchToolbarBranchSelector and the live-branch draft sync in GitActionsControl needs the send path (useComposerSend, plus status plumbing in ChatComposer) to work out the branch itself. That is a change to the core send path, so both effects stay as they are on main.
vp test run on CommandPalette.logic.test.ts, CommandPalette.browser.test.tsx (new: the intent path focuses the search input, not the Back button, which guards the https://git.cafe/pingdotgg/t3code/pulls/25072 class of regression), CommandPaletteContent.browser.test.tsx, shortcuts/commandPaletteCommands.browser.test.tsx (new), UsageToggleShortcut.browser.test.tsx and client-runtimevcsStatusRevalidation.test.ts: all pass.
vp run check:changed: format, lint, knip, typecheck (7 packages) and tests (7 files, 56 tests) all pass.
Macroscope's review found this PR requires human approval — This PR rewires command-palette lifecycle and global shortcuts while also changing production VCS refresh behavior and picker/dialog state management across several components. It additionally adds a directive suppressing an Effect static-analysis diagnostic, so the changes warrant human review.

… pickers drop timer and sync effects
The command palette held its open state in a component reducer, so every way
in (sidebar buttons, Cmd+N, PR links) went through a window CustomEvent that
an effect relayed into the reducer, its shortcuts were one window listener
re-attached whenever the theme, keybindings, terminal or preview state
changed, and an open intent ("Add project", "New thread in...") was applied
by a layout effect that cleared it again in the parent. GitActionsControl
ran its own focus/visibility listener, interval and timeout effects, and
BranchPicker measured its fades two frames after opening and scrolled to top
from a previous-value effect.
- Palette state is a zustand store driven by the same reducer. openCommandPalette
dispatches to it directly. Palette, theme and usage shortcuts are one
dispatcher scope installed at app start, live only while a palette is
mounted, and read the route, panels and theme at key time.
- An intent bumps a session; the palette view is keyed by it and starts in the
intent's submenu on its first render. "Add project" and "New thread in..."
submenus resolve their items while rendering, so they follow projects and
environments as they load.
- GitActionsControl: elapsed time reads the shared second clock, the inline
success hides at a deadline, and focus/visibility status refresh is one
shared atom per checkout (vcsStatusRevalidation, wake option restored in
client-runtime with this consumer).
- BranchPicker: fades follow a ResizeObserver from the list's ref callback;
typing scrolls the list to top in the input handler.
- AddProjectToMachineDialog: no effect closes it when its project goes away;
the dialog's open state follows the project and the request ends when the
close finishes. Each request remounts the dialog.
Effects kept: the palette's browse-navigation cleanup, GitActionsControl's
live-branch draft sync, BranchToolbarBranchSelector's default-branch write
(both feed the send path, which still reads the stored branch).

…unt is an explicit effect
Coming back to the window refreshes the checkout's status on each window focus
and each switch to a visible tab, as before, not only when the cached focus
state flips. The palette's mount tracking is a plain effect instead of a ref
callback, and the revalidation atom's comment says when it refreshes.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…-project dialog ends with its project
openCommandPalette now ignores requests while no palette is mounted, as the
window event on main did, so Ctrl+N on /pair cannot leave a stale palette
open for the app shell. The add-project-to-machine request subscribes to its
project and ends when the project goes away, so a project that vanishes before
the dialog shows cannot reopen it when it returns.

* feat(mobile): run the chrome e2e across poses on the device pool
`vp run mobile:e2e` now leases iOS and Android devices from the Simlock pool
(SIMLOCK_AGENT_DEVICE_URL + AGENT_DEVICE_DAEMON_AUTH_TOKEN) instead of booting
local simulators, and walks each of 12 poses (phone sizes, iPads, a fold,
a tablet, dark mode, largest text) through the app: thread list, a thread,
scrolling, typing, back, settings, then rotation or folding.
Every screen gets generic layout checks that need no per-screen code: app in
front, no error screen or launch dialog, no fixed control cut off by the
screen edge, no sibling controls stacked, nothing under a system bar, no
input under the keyboard. Transitions keep the video check for tabs lagging
the screen, now measured against the recording's own first and last frames.
Afterwards a headless Claude reviews each pose's screenshots for what the
checks cannot see, and the findings land in the same report grid.
`mobile:install --session` now has the session's host download the dev
client from the shared cache with the read-only key, instead of uploading it
through the gateway (13 s instead of 10+ minutes for an APK).

* chore(mobile): e2e poses for current devices, Duo and landscape fixes
Poses now cover iPhone SE, iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone Duo folded and unfolded,
iPad Pro 13" in both orientations, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro Fold folded,
unfolded and unfolded landscape, and Pixel Tablet in both orientations.
Landscape poses rotate once the app is up (a rotation during launch is lost)
and check that the screen really is wider than tall. Taps fall back to the
element's centre when agent-device refuses a covered ref, and a gateway
whose workers briefly reconnect is retried.

* fix(mobile): select the correct draft after adding a project (pingdotgg#24269)
* fix(mobile): mobile:install no longer requires --prepare
The --prepare flag from pingdotgg#25390 had no default, so effect/cli made it
required and every mobile:install failed with "Missing required flag".
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(mobile): e2e landscape poses rotate for real on tablets and folds
agent-device names rotations relative to the device's natural orientation,
which is landscape on the Pixel Tablet and an unfolded Fold, so
"landscape-left" turned them portrait. The runner now asks for a shape and
tries each rotation until the screen has it. It also prepares each platform's
dev client before leasing, rides out longer worker drops, and skips the
Duo poses by default until agent-device can fold Simlock's simulators.

- Adapted: Windows work-account sign-in toggle moves into upstream's new Settings > Browser page (pingdotgg#25651 split Integrations); its search result and old Integrations links now open /settings/browser, with a regression test.
- Adapted: mobile worktree bases from any remote survive pingdotgg#25706; the branch list goes through newTaskBranchChoices (tested), and the renamed outbox (threadOutboxDelivery.ts, pingdotgg#25678) still sends worktreeBaseRef.
- Superseded: Cody's worktreeBaseRef line in the mobile pending-task editor goes with upstream's removal of that unreachable editor (pingdotgg#25684).
- ChatView: ask-in-side-chat props kept after upstream dropped the paint-only timeline path (pingdotgg#25787).
- CommandPalette: keep the side chat import, drop useTheme as upstream did (pingdotgg#25733).
- agentContextBudget.json carries Cody's final-answer instruction size (+371 bytes for Claude and Codex) so upstream's new budget test (pingdotgg#25785) matches.
- Sync working notes cover the budget file, the Browser settings page, and the mobile outbox rename.

Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(mobile): mobile:install no longer requires --prepare

* fix(build): TEMPORARY workaround so linux-arm64 builds run on 16/64 KiB page kernels (pingdotgg#25825)
TEMPORARY workaround for an upstream Node bug: nodejs/node#67048
Node 26.9+ --build-sea writes linux-arm64 executables that 16/64 KiB page kernels cannot load.
linux-arm64 now injects with postject, and the archive build rejects incompatible ELF layouts.
One-time exception. Revert once Node ships a fix: grep for the Node issue URL and drop postject
from scripts/package.json.

Problem
The command palette kept its open state in a component reducer. Every way in (sidebar buttons, Cmd+N, PR links) went through a window
CustomEventthat an effect passed on to the reducer. Its shortcuts were one window listener that re-attached whenever the theme, keybindings, terminal or preview state changed. An open intent ("Add project", "New thread in...") was applied by a layout effect that dispatched back to the parent to clear itself.GitActionsControlran its own focus/visibility listener plus an interval and a timeout effect.BranchPickermeasured its scroll fades two frames after opening and scrolled to the top from a previous-value effect.Change
commandPaletteStoreis a zustand store driven by the existingreduceCommandPaletteUiState, andopenCommandPalettedispatches to it directly. With no palette mounted (for example on /pair) the request is dropped, as the unheard window event was onmain. The palette, theme and usage shortcuts are now one dispatcher scope (shortcuts/commandPaletteCommands.ts), installed inappInit. It is live only while a palette is mounted (useCommandPaletteMount, an explicit mount effect, since leaving the route calls no close handler) and reads the route, panels and theme when the key is pressed. Unmounting the last palette resets the store.session, and the palette view is keyed by it, so the view starts in the intent's submenu on its first render. The "Add project" and "New thread in..." submenus build their items while rendering (resolveAddProjectEntry), so they update as environments and projects load. Before, they kept whatever existed when the palette opened.useNowSecond).useDeadlinePassed).vcsStatusRevalidation). As onmain, every windowfocusand every switch to a visible tab refreshes, with the same 250ms debounce. Each request remounts the dialog. What this improves
CommandPaletteshell no longer subscribes to the theme, keybindings, terminal UI store, right-panel store or location. Theme, terminal or preview changes no longer re-render it or re-attach a window listener.mainfor a user-visible bug here (see Behavior changes).Behavior changes

These are from the original unit. Removing the branch-default write in
BranchToolbarBranchSelectorand the live-branch draft sync inGitActionsControlneeds the send path (useComposerSend, plus status plumbing inChatComposer) to work out the branch itself. That is a change to the core send path, so both effects stay as they are onmain.Effects
