perf(ci): cache server tests individually across shards - #24966
Server CI currently caches a whole shard task, so a relevant change can rerun many unaffected test files. Run each file as its own Vite+ task while retaining the existing eight weighted shards, sequential execution within each runner, authentication, and job gates.
The transfer-budget test always executes so its required report is produced. Each shard uploads its original native cache summary, selected file list, elapsed runtime, and verification outcomes. One cache hit per shard is re-executed with local and remote caching disabled; a verification failure fails CI. Existing Axiom task telemetry continues to capture the native cache hits and avoided runtime.
Validation:
vp run check:changed passes on the rebased head (format, lint, knip, affected typechecks and focused tests).
Discovery matches all 413 server test files exactly once across eight shards (48/50/52/52/52/53/53/53); the transfer report belongs to shard 8.
A real two-file run restored both cached results, then re-executed one without cache successfully.
Earlier isolated distributed experiments restored 4/4 files across separate checkouts and separate Linux VMs. After a source or fixture edit, individual tasks retained 3/4 hits versus 1/2 for two-file groups.
Concurrency defaults to one because concurrent uploads intermittently timed out during experiments. Cold runs incur more Vitest startup work; per-shard reports let us compare that cost against warm-run savings. This changes server tests only; other test jobs remain unchanged.
Implemented with GPT-6.1 Sol in the Codex harness.

Passing . from the checkout root makes filter an empty string, so the file filter rejects every test and the command reports No test files matched (or a root shard succeeds without running tests). Treat an empty relative filter as matching the whole checkout.

Fixed in 4654817. Both . and an absolute checkout-root path now match all test paths. Added a regression that failed before the fix and passes afterward; vp run check:changed passes, including all seven focused tests.

Walkthrough
The changes add cached test task generation and a CLI that selects, runs, and optionally verifies tests. Vite+ uses the new task provider. CI runs the CLI for server shards and uploads shard-specific cache reports.
The task provider validates test requests, groups tests by package, and creates cacheable or uncached tasks. Vite+ uses the provider. Tests cover task selection, input invalidation, cache hits, failures, and uncached tasks.
Test selection and cache verification scripts/test-cached.ts, scripts/lib/sharded-tests.ts, scripts/lib/sharded-tests.test.ts
The CLI selects test files from Git or shard discovery, runs cache tasks, optionally reruns selected cache hits without caching, and writes reports. Shard discovery uses Vitest’s configured sequencer.
Package and CI integration package.json, .github/workflows/ci.yml
The package script starts the CLI. CI runs it for each server shard with an uncached test, cache-hit verification, and a report path, then uploads the report artifact.

Fixed in 71c9f18: .spec.* files are now supported alongside .test.*, and sharded discovery explicitly fails if any discovered file cannot be selected. The new spec regression failed before the fix; all eight focused tests and vp run check:changed pass. Also verified a custom *.unit.ts include exits 1 with an explicit error rather than silently omitting it.
