Problem

With related checkouts grouped in the default sidebar, Settings → Project → Checkouts had no per-checkout grouping control. A checkout could not be split into its own project there, or restored to the global rule after being split.

Change

Restore the existing four grouping choices on every checkout, including single-checkout projects. Persist changes through the client-settings update queue using the same override keys as the legacy dialog; inheriting removes only the selected override. Existing navigation follows the checkout when its current group empties.

Save failures display an error toast and retain the saved selection. Accessible names include the environment label and full ID. Checkout controls stack at narrow widths; a lone checkout keeps its removal action in Danger. The legacy dialog shares the labels and override helper.

Scope and approval

Fixes https://git.cafe/pingdotgg/t3code/issues/16445

Triaged bug via the automated issue flow: #16445. This restores an existing client setting removed from project settings by #10639; it adds no contract, server, schema or native-client behavior.

Verification

At f822473:

  • Focused ProjectSettingsPanel logic tests: 3/3 passed. Targeted lint, formatting and web typecheck passed. All32 reported CI checks passed; both independent full code reviews returned MERGE. Macroscope approved and CodeRabbit reports no actionable findings.
  • Real-app checks cover grouping/inheritance, preservation of other overrides, scoped split/return navigation, two environments with the same path, keyboard interaction, reduced project permissions, legacy Save/restore and both persistence-rejection messages.
  • Independent corrected proof audit: SUFFICIENT. All112 comparison counts/masks were independently verified. One exact-path head rebuild matched with0 changed pixels at both thresholds.

Visible changes: the helper and grouping selectors add height; Remove controls shift, nested rows stack, and narrow paths/default labels truncate. The failure toast overlays the upper settings content at narrow width. Wide legacy-dialog and breadcrumb glyph raster differences are disclosed per row; no claim of zero unrelated pixel changes is made. Historical invalid/contaminated comparisons are excluded, with provenance retained in the linked reports. #10639 dropped the per-checkout "Project grouping" select from project
settings, leaving the legacy sidebar dialog as the only way to write
sidebarProjectGroupingOverrides. Restore it in the Checkouts section for
every checkout, including a lone one so "Keep separate" can be undone.
The labels and the override update move to sidebarProjectGrouping so the
legacy sidebar dialog and settings share them.

Explain what the per-checkout grouping rule does in the Checkouts section,
widen the select so its longest label fits, and write overrides through the
updater form so a stale render cannot drop another checkout's override.

Approvability

Verdict: Approved at bd84f03

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — Project settings now let users change or reset each checkout’s sidebar grouping rule, including for a lone checkout. The change uses existing client preferences, leaves defaults and permissions unchanged, and is reversible through the same selector.

Walkthrough

Project settings now provide grouping selections for individual checkouts, persist valid selections as overrides keyed by physical project, and show an error toast if saving fails. The Checkouts section now appears for projects with one or more checkouts.

Changes: Per-checkout grouping

Layer / File(s) Summary
Grouping override helper
apps/web/src/sidebarProjectGrouping.ts
The module exports labels for grouping modes and a helper that removes an override for inherit or sets the selected mode in a copied override map.
Project settings checkout controls
apps/web/src/components/settings/ProjectSettingsPanel.tsx
Each checkout has a grouping selector with validated options. Selections are persisted by physical project key. The controls retain conditional checkout removal, and the Checkouts section is always rendered.

Fixed both CodeRabbit findings in f822473: failed grouping saves show an error toast and retain the saved selection; accessible names include the environment label and full ID.

Focused logic tests: 3/3 passed. Targeted lint, format and web typecheck passed. Both independent code reviewers returned MERGE.

Integrated check: real web dev app, Chromium 154 on Linux, DPR 2, no device emulation, 390×844 dark. A synthetic persistence rejection followed by choosing Keep separate leaves the inherited rule and empty override map intact and displays the error. Recording: 0s open select, approximately 1s choose Keep separate, approximately 2s toast and unchanged selection.

Independent proof reconciliation remains INSUFFICIENT: historical capture SHAs are preserved, final-head matrix coverage, paired failure evidence, duplicate-path accessibility interaction, keyboard/permission action coverage and fixture reproducibility remain open. R4/R5/R6 threshold counts use 8/255 (3.1373%), not the global 8% caption. The previous blanket SUFFICIENT statement should not be used for the current head. CI and bot checks must run again on this push.

Corrected capture set delivered for f822473: report and complete comparison tables. It replaces the active proof selection with matched clock/origin/scroll frames, labelled Danger anchors, and captioned interaction variants. Historical invalid trials remain excluded.

Fixed-path fixture and stills · Source and captioned recordings.

Independent audit of this corrected set is running. Verification remains open; production source is unchanged.

* fix(web): play completion sounds without delay (pingdotgg#29146)

Completion alerts waited two seconds after the client received a completed thread state. Audio was also fetched and decoded only when an alert needed to play, adding a first-play delay.

Notify immediately when the thread shell reports completion, and preload both sounds when a user gesture unlocks audio. Keep completion deduplication and suppression for existing, archived, and stopped runs.

This intentionally removes the continuation grace for completion alerts. A completed run can now notify before an automatic continuation starts. The sidebar's two-second placement grace and server settlement behavior remain in place.

Validation: `vp run check:changed` passes after merging current main, including 40 affected tests, formatting, lint, unused-code checks, affected typechecks, and React compiler checks. Tests cover immediate completion, duplicate suppression across reconnects, preloaded audio reuse, and retrying failed loads on alerts without retrying on every gesture. Audible timing has not been verified in a live client.

* fix(desktop): prepare macOS x64 bytecode under Rosetta (pingdotgg#29484)

* fix(server): keep PR watches active after host failures (pingdotgg#29450)

## Problem

PR watches stopped after eight failed host reads, so a prolonged network outage prevented later CI and review updates from reaching the thread.

## Change

Keep watches active after provider failures reported as `failed`. Read detail and activity concurrently without allowing an activity failure to cancel or hide a permanent detail failure. Repeated known permanent failures still stop the watch and notify the agent; rate limits still pause reads. Non-rate-limited GitHub HTTP 403 responses and GraphQL `FORBIDDEN` responses now use a distinct `forbidden` reason so access refusals are counted instead of retried indefinitely. GraphQL error types survive the client mapping, after the existing requested-reviewer fallback.

The provider's `failed` category also includes unclassified host and decode errors. Those continue retrying at the existing two-minute cadence until the watch ends or is stopped. A fixed outage deadline would recreate the recovery failure for longer outages.

## Scope and approval

This is a focused fix for an obvious bug in existing PR watch recovery, covered by the small bug-fix exception in CONTRIBUTING.md. The changes cover watcher recovery, a GitHub failure classification needed to preserve permanent-error handling, and their regression tests. The new server-side `forbidden` reason does not change RPC contracts or add settings.

## Verification

`vp run check:changed` passed, including 154 tests across five files. Regression coverage includes a 30-minute outage followed by one CI-success notification, mixed activity/detail failures, resetting a prior failure count, and repeated forbidden reads stopping the watch. Provider tests distinguish HTTP 403 and exclusively permanent GraphQL refusals from retryable HTTP 503 and mixed or untyped GraphQL errors. The mixed-failure and GraphQL classification cases failed before their fixes. Seven focused requested-reviewer fallback/refusal tests also pass.
