Dragging an overflowing file path in the mobile diff view repeatedly scans preceding code rows to locate its file header. Large diffs make that discarded work grow with the document.
Change
Use each native view's existing header indices for the lookup. Path measurement, first matching header, platform-specific missing-header behavior and code scrolling stay the same; this adds no cache or index construction.
Scope and approval
This is a focused optimization of an existing gesture on iOS and Android. It removes irrelevant row visits without changing interaction policy. Audit tracker: #189.
Verification
The added native regressions reject the original full-row scan and pass with indexed lookup. In a ten-header fixture over 120 updates, code-row inspections fall from 108,000 to zero. All 54 iOS and 42 Android recorded path limits match the baseline. Counts measure lookup work, not latency or battery use.
bash apps/mobile/modules/t3-review-diff/tests/run-ios.sh: passed. The fresh Android harness passes all 17 tests. Focused SwiftLint, ktlint, Detekt and shell checks pass.
CI=true vp run check:changed 9d7997afc5db09462e140de19f799c709655094c: passed. An initial invocation could not launch because local Vite+ was absent; locked dependency installation and the subsequent check passed.
A fresh read-only GPT-6.1 Sol/high session reviewed the full contribution with no actionable findings and independently reran both native harnesses.
Bounded iOS 27 Simulator proof used the actual Expo/Fabric production components with synthetic input/navigation, on 6a1c8d1 plus exact reviewed overlays. Base and candidate both passed 12 first/middle/last path endpoint cases across wrap modes, retained replacement/reset, collapse and gesture compatibility checks. The changed production files match those captures. Native proof predates the latest upstream integration; current-base focused checks passed, and no new current-base runtime pass is claimed. Android device gestures remain unverified because supported discovery selects an incomplete SDK. The deterministic Android tests are not device proof.
No visible UI change is intended. Native evidence does not measure smoothness, CPU time or physical energy.
Implemented and reviewed in separate GPT-6.1 Sol/high sessions through Codex in T3 Code. GPT-6 Astra/high performed the native proof.
Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — This is a narrowly scoped mobile performance fix that replaces repeated full-row scans with existing file-header indices on both platforms. Existing path limits and interaction behavior are covered by targeted tests, and no product defaults or static-analysis overrides are changed.

Android and iOS now use cached file-header indices to locate rows for header-path offset calculations. Geometry tests cover offset limits, clamping, header cases, replacement behavior, code-scroll bounds, and row visits.
Both native views locate the file-header row through cached indices instead of scanning rows.
Geometry tests and read instrumentation apps/mobile/modules/t3-review-diff/tests/android/src/test/.../ReviewDiffGeometryTest.kt, apps/mobile/modules/t3-review-diff/tests/ios/geometry.swift, apps/mobile/modules/t3-review-diff/tests/run-ios.sh
Tests cover header limits and clamping across layout and ID cases, replacement behavior, and separate code-scroll bounds. Instrumentation tracks code-row reads and, in the iOS harness, row visits to the compiled test copy of resolvedFileId(for:).

A kind-first full scan can inspect code rows without calling resolvedFileId(for:) for them. Both count assertions would still pass.
Instrument row access or predicate entry instead, and check a kind-first full scan as a regression case.

Update the header lookup instrumentation around HeaderLookupReads.record(row) to
count inspected rows or predicate entries rather than resolver calls, and change
both count assertions to verify that measure. Add a kind-first full-scan
regression case that confirms inspected code rows are counted even when
resolvedFileId(for:) is not called.
