On Android, focusing the secret request field (request_secret) shows a password manager suggestion above the keyboard. With Proton Pass it offers the account login ("app.t3.codes" plus an email address), which is the wrong thing to offer for a new password and invites filling a login into the field.
The card already sets autoComplete="off" and importantForAutofill="no". In React Native 0.88 those both reduce to IMPORTANT_FOR_AUTOFILL_NO (ReactTextInputManager.kt), and ReactEditText never overrides getAutofillType(). Newer Android still starts credential autofill for such a view, the same gap fixed for the terminal input in #20051. The original secret card work (#15907, #17410) states that Android autofill is meant to stay off here.
Fix
Android now renders the secret field with a small native EditText (T3SecretInput, in t3-native-controls) that overrides getAutofillType() to return AUTOFILL_TYPE_NONE, the same opt-out T3TerminalView.kt uses. It is a masked, single-line password-type input with no keyboard suggestions, and reports onChangeText and onSubmit to JS.
SecretTextInput is a platform split. iOS keeps the existing React Native TextInput with its current props. The Android variant draws the same frame as AppTextInput (border, radius, background, 54px minimum height) around the native view and passes theme colors in. SecretRequestCard just uses it.
Because JS state echoes values back asynchronously, the native view remembers values it has sent and ignores their echoes, so fast typing is not overwritten by a stale value. Submit fires on key down only, since a hardware Enter reports both down and up.
A source patch to React Native was not an option: the Android build uses the prebuilt react-android AAR, so patched ReactEditText.kt would never be compiled.
Evidence
Before: Android S25 Ultra, Proton Pass, secret card focused. The suggestion bar shows "app.t3.codes" with an email address (screen recording from the reporter). I reproduced the same bar on the same phone with the previous props on a plain React Native TextInput.
After: same phone, Proton Pass installed, dev client built from this branch. Focusing the new field shows no suggestion bar. Screenshots to attach on GitHub (not committed):
after_old_focus.png: previous field, Proton Pass bar visible.
after_new_focus.png: new field, no bar.
fix_more.png: new field after typing, masked, length 9 and one submit.
Checked on the device, using a small throwaway screen with the previous field and the new one side by side (not part of this PR):
No suggestion chip when the new field is focused.
Typing is masked. Typing "hunter2" fast and then 2 more characters gave length 9, with no dropped characters.
Done on the keyboard submits once.
Same frame, height and colors as the old field in the dark theme.
Not verified on the device:
The real SecretRequestCard inside the full app (only the throwaway screen was run).
Light theme.
Cursor and selection handle tint.
Verification
From the repo root and apps/mobile:
vp fmt --check and vp lint on the changed files: pass (also via the pre-commit hook).
vp run typecheck in apps/mobile: pass.
The Kotlin compiles: the Android dev client built and ran from this branch. It has not been run through ktlint or detekt (none on the author's machine).
No unit test: the behavior is a native view's autofill type and visual parity, and a getter assertion would only mirror the implementation.
Scope
Mobile only. Open PR #28942 also edits SecretRequestCard.tsx (the web and mobile cards); this change touches only the input element, so a conflict should be small. Web and desktop already use a web password field with autofill attributes. iOS is unchanged. No contract or server changes.

On Android 13 and earlier, pressing hardware Enter does not dispatch onSubmit, so the secret input cannot be submitted with that key. Good catch, taken. The Enter-key check now also accepts KEYCODE_ENTER events, so hardware Enter submits on Android 13 and earlier; the key-down check still prevents a double submit. Fixed in 1020e30. Not re-run on a device.
Macroscope's review found this PR requires human approval — Android secret requests now use a masked native input to prevent password-manager suggestions. The change also expands a theme-related lint exception in vite.config.ts, which requires human authorization.

The change adds reusable secret text input components for Android and other platforms. The Android native input emits text-change and submit events and synchronizes JS-selected values. The pending secret request form now uses the new component.

Guard importantForAutofill for API 26 and later.
T3SecretInputView is reachable from SecretRequestCard, but its initialization calls the API 26-only View.setImportantForAutofill(int) unconditionally. On the supported API 24 and 25 versions, this can prevent the secret input from being constructed.

Re CodeRabbit's note on importantForAutofill: valid, minSdk is 24 and that API is 26 and later. It is now behind a version check (a2f69af). The getAutofillType override is safe on older versions, since the method does not exist there. Not run on an API 24 or 25 device.
… logins
The secret request field is a React Native TextInput, which can only set importantForAutofill=no. Newer Android still starts credential autofill for it, so Proton Pass offered the account login above the keyboard while typing a new admin password.
Android now uses a small native EditText for this field that reports AUTOFILL_TYPE_NONE, the same opt-out the terminal input uses. iOS keeps the React Native TextInput.

…twice
The native secret input applied every JS echo of an older value, which
overwrote characters typed in the meantime, and hardware Enter reported
both key down and key up, so it submitted twice. Track values sent to JS
until they are echoed, and submit only on key down.

Submit the current native text
If the final edit and Done queue while JS is busy, submit can use the previous rendered secret. This can save an incomplete secret or reject a single-character secret as empty. Pass the current native text with the submit event and use it for the Android value save.

On the outside-diff note about submitting stale text in T3SecretInputModule.kt: fixed in 31f5843. The submit event now carries the field's current native text, and the Android and iOS SecretTextInput pass it to onSubmitEditing(value), so the card saves that value instead of the last rendered state. Typecheck and the React Compiler coverage pass. The Kotlin change is one line and I have not rebuilt the Android client for it.
