fix(web): screen readers no longer read out a secret typed into the request card - #31653
The web secret request card masked a type="text" input with -webkit-text-security. That only hides the glyphs: Chromium still exposes the plaintext as the field's accessible value, so a screen reader reads the secret aloud. Mobile already uses secureTextEntry.
Change
Use a password input, like the other non-login secret fields in Settings. The autoComplete="off" and 1Password, LastPass and Bitwarden opt-outs stay.
Trade-off: https://git.cafe/pingdotgg/t3code/pulls/15907 chose the masked text field so browsers would not offer to save the value as a password. Chrome's own password manager does not always honour autocomplete="off", so it may offer that again. Leaking a secret to assistive tech is the worse problem.
Verification
Playwright probe on Chromium 148: the masked text input's accessible value was the typed secret; a password input's was bullets, and copy was blocked.
No test added: the change is the input type, and a browser test would only re-check markup.
vp run check:changed passes.

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — Uses a password input so screen readers no longer receive the secret as plain text. Secret submission is unchanged, and existing autocomplete and password-manager opt-outs remain, though browsers may still offer to save the value.

The secret request form now uses a password input instead of a text input with CSS-based masking. The related warning comment and CSS text-security class are removed.

Summary
Use a password input apps/web/src/components/chat/SecretRequestCard.tsx
The form changes the secret field from a text input with CSS masking to a password input. It also removes the prior warning comment and CSS class reference.
pingdotgg/t3code#28942: This PR also changes the web secret input to a password input and adds autofill-suppression attributes and a Show/Hide toggle.
pingdotgg/t3code#31257: This PR changes the same input and retains CSS-based masking, which differs from the input type used here.

Explanation
The title names the main change: the secret request card now uses a password input so screen readers no longer read the typed secret. It follows the conventional commit format and matches the one-file change (password input replaces masked text input) and the PR objectives. It is specific and descriptive.
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description follows the template. It has Problem, Change, and Verification sections with substantive content. The Problem section explains the accessible-value leak and the mobile precedent. The Change section explains the password input and the retained autocomplete opt-outs, and it covers the trade-off with the earlier masked-text decision. Verification gives a Playwright probe on Chromium 148 with observed results, states that no test was added and why, and reports that the check command passes. Gaps: the Scope and approval section is missing. The description does not link a triaged issue or maintainer approval, and it does not explain why the change qualifies as a small obvious fix. The author should add that section. The Verification section also has no UI before/after screenshots, which the template asks for on UI changes. The author should add screenshots or a short recording, or explain why they are not needed. The model and harness line is present.
Resolution
Add a Scope and approval section. Link the triaged bug issue or the maintainer-approved discussion, including the approval comment. If no issue exists, explain why this small, focused fix of an obvious bug qualifies without prior approval. Add before/after screenshots of the secret request card under Verification, as the template requires for UI changes. The Problem, Change, Verification, and model/harness content already meets the template.

Add an accessibility regression test for SecretRequestCard.
Render the pending request in a Chromium browser test, enter a known secret, and query the accessibility tree through the existing cdp capability. Assert that the accessible value is masked and does not equal the entered secret.
No existing test covers this flow. SecretSourceInput.browser.test.tsx covers a different component and checks only its DOM value. This is a behavior test, not a static prop test, and it would catch the original exposure if the input changes back to a text field.

Add a Chromium browser behavior test for SecretRequestCard’s pending request:
enter a known secret, query the accessibility tree using the existing cdp
capability, and assert the exposed accessible value is masked and differs from
the entered secret. Verify the test exercises the rendered input rather than
only checking its DOM type or value.

Port of upstream pingdotgg#31653. A CSS-masked text field still exposes its value
to screen readers, so the secret request card now uses a password field.
Release-Note: Fixed screen readers reading out a secret typed into the secret request card.
